4:55pm

Then Ward was booked in added time for a foul on Bruno, with whom he was having a niggly tussle.
But the action was taking place near Albion’s corner flag.
The Seagulls fired long balls forward for Obika and Ulloa – but they had no joy and Ulloa was booked after a foul.
Final: Derby 1 Albion 0

4:50pm

Obika was close to getting on the end of Andrews’ searching long pass into the goalmouth as Albion chased the equaliser they probably deserved.
Martin was booked for his foul on Greer as Albion, with men committed to attack, looked to play their way out of trouble.

4:46pm

4:42pm

The Seagulls then introduced Agustien in place of David.

4:40pm

Ulloa almost conjured a rapid response but his shot, as he seemed to be pulled back, was sharply saved low to his right by Grant.
Albion sent on Obika for Forster-Caskey.

4:37pm

Orlandi’s comeback lasted 67 minutes before he was replaced by March.
Bruno quickly threaded a ball down the right to March but he ran it out of play for a goal kick under pressure.
A foul just outside the box gave Bamford a chance to make an immediate impact but his free-kick from five yards outside the box was scooped horribly over the bar.
Derby sent on Sammon for Wisdom as an indication they were going to push for the win.
And the breakthrough came in style when BAMFORD a super finish beyond Kuszczak from just outside the box.

4:27pm

Bruno showed brilliant skills to beat Forsyth tight to the touchline and was then clipped by the defender, who was booked.
That gave Albion a platform from which to attack but David hooked his volley too high under pressure when a cross fell to him beyond the far post.

4:22pm

4:22pm

Derby made a double switch as Hendrick replaced Hughes in midfield and Bamford went on for Dawkins in attack.
David’s searching ball almost found Orlandi’s run in behind the defence. The clearing header fell to Forster-Caskey but he blasted a hopeful shot well off target from outside the box.

4:18pm

As Albion got the ball in from the left, David saw it cleared away from him and he looked set to swing into a shot.
The clearance fell to Andrews who was well off target from 35 yards.
Albion then strung together a nice move which saw David’s deep cross from the right clear Ulloa and reach Orlandi, whose volley was blocked behind as Albion fans behind that goal appealed in vain for handball.

4:16pm

4:12pm

Derby had more of the possession in the opening stages of the second half. But Jamie Ward let them down when he broke into the Albion box and then got his touch all wrong, with Bruno completing the interception.

4:04pm

There were no substitutions at the interval.

3:49pm

Derby forced a corner in added time and the ball drifted across the Albion goalmouth with no one getting a touch.
Both teams had knocked the ball about nicely but the one moment of real excitement remained Grant’s save from Upson.
Half: Derby 0 Albion 0

3:43pm

Derby were looking the more dangerous side now.
They thought they had released Dawkins with a long ball but Bruno cut it out and then showed a nice touch to lob a pass to Andrews as Albion played their way out of trouble.
Eustace was next in the book for catching Forster-Caskey late in the middle of the park.

3:39pm

3:38pm

Derby, and Hughes, were becoming more of a force.

But Ince delighted Albion fans with a drag back to take the ball away from the Rams' star midfielder.

3:37pm

Keogh raised home fans’ mood when he rumbled forward with the ball at his feet and fed it into Jamie Ward. His flick released Hughes to the right of goal but the midfielder checked inside and tried an ambitious left-foot curler which hit Stephen Ward and was hacked away by Upson.
Keogh, though, had shown the more direct approach Derby fans had been demanding.
Then Dawkins had a run at Bruno, who stuck out a leg to block his cross away for a corner.
The flag kick led to a bit of head tennis before falling to Jamie Ward, whose 20-yard volley was blocked for a flag kick on the other side.
This one led to a perilously skied clearance by Upson which Kuszcak had to half clear with his fist before Albion scrambled the ball away.

3:31pm

Buxton was booked for holding on to the ball when Albion wanted to take a quick throw.

Andrews also saw yellow a minute later for a foul. The free-kick was curled into the box and cleared by Kuszczak's two-handed punch.

3:28pm

Too many reasonably promising moves by Albion were fizzling out in the Derby half.
Jamie Ward was more direct for Derby when his chest control out on the left took him away from Greer. He looked to curl right-footed inside the far post but his effort was two yards wide.
Still, it was a moment of promise from the Rams which lifted their slightly uneasy fans.
Albion’s supporters were equally encouraged when Orlandi saw his cross deflect behind for his team’s first corner.
Orlandi’s pinpoint delivery from the resulting set-piece was met by a booming header from Upson – but Grant rose to superbly tip it over the bar left-handed.

3:19pm

3:19pm

Hughes produced a nice dummy to get attack-minded right-back Wisdom motoring down the right but his cross was lofted straight behind for a goal kick.
Albion, though, were having most of the possession without troubling Grant.
When Derby attacked, Greer was booked for a foul but the free-kick into the box was cleared.

3:14pm

There was a hint of Albion danger as Bruno released David down the right with a lovely first touch but the latter’s cross was poor and easily cut out.
Then Orlandi produced some nice footwork on the left but his cross was also cleared.

3:10pm

That Andrews effort was the only goal attempt of the opening stages as both sides enjoyed spells of possession with no hint of creating danger.

3:04pm

3:04pm

Albion, attacking the goal furthest from their fans, had the first shot inside the opening minute.
They worked the ball neatly to David Lopez wide on the right, his deep cross was nodded back by Ulloa for Ince, who mis-kicked. But the ball ran to Andrews who drilled a low shot wide from just outside the box.
The noisier home fans were situated next to the away section behind Kuszczak’s goal, making for a decent atmosphere early on.

Andy, transfers and injuries aside, the recent form of both teams sees us on the rise and Derby taking a dip, I don't see any reason why that should change, we have a squad that is use to getting over setbacks.

Thanks Vegas. Fair points - but I'm Brian

2:59pm

The teams come out as Albion get stuck into a very challenging period in their season.

Four away games in succession including trips to two members of the current top four.

The Seagulls have just spent their first week of the season in the top six.

Which means Derby have just spent their first week with a win over a top-six team to their name. The Rams won 2-1 at The Amex in August, when Albion were some way from the play-offs, and aim to complete their first double of the season today.

2:54pm

2:49pm

2:48pm

So that was the week in the life of Albion....
The week in which it was confirmed Andrew Crofts would miss the rest of the season.
The week in which they were handed an FA Cup draw which fell some way sort of their hopes.
The week in which what seemed a likely move by Lewis Grabban to The Amex started to stall just a little.
The week Adam El-Abd left the club after a 20-year affiliation.
The week in which Liam Bridcutt trained but didn’t play.
The week in which Kazenga LuaLua was ruled out by injury.
The week in which Bruno, quite understandably, replied to a question in a press conference by saying he felt Abion’s squad could do with help.
And, finally, the week in which Lewis Grabban decided not to come to The Amex after all.
And, lest it be forgotten, the first week of the season Albion spent in the top six.
And, it now transpires, the week which led to Andrea Orlandi’s first start since the opening day of the season.
Not all bad news then. But a decent result in this tough-looking fixture would be timely.

Not impressed by Derby at all. The service to Ulloa is not good enough right now. David not seeming to be too involved. The yellows cards against Brighton looked a tad harsh. Brighton not using enough width, game seems bogged down a little in midfield. Some of the notes I made during the first half.

Just need to keep playing our game. No silly mistakes. We might nick it!

Think we need March for Lopez, open it up a bit and then if no luck after 70 minutes bring on Obika, maybe Agustien if Orlandi tires.

A little worrying, our star player seems to be taking little part in the game but maybe Argus can tell us following on a computer, differently. Come on Albion get stuck in. See Nooney has scored against Man City---must be good for him although Cardiff now loosing heavily!

My synopsis, take it or leave it. Ulloa isolated and no support. Andrews and JFC and Bruno in the first half under par. Won't even mention Lopez. We went to Derby with no intent; narrow minded teaam and no width. A tad dissappoibted as I am cold and queuing to get out. Looked better last 10 mins with the changes and urgency. Not sure of other results but back outside the pkayoffs.
When I say narrow minded I do mean due the the players and not attacking enough.

Very poor display, why wait for so long again to sub the invisible man (Lopez), we were slightly better when March came on for a tiring orlandi, ulloa looked average at best, went down to easy under every challenge, had he not, when he was fouled in the box he might have got something. Too slow in every department today for me and we need to wake up or come next home game we might be out of the chase.

A very tight game - could have gone either way. Saying that we only looked like scoring from set pieces.
Bruno, Upson and Ince were outstanding.
Neither March nor Obika (who looks a little overweight) got a look in after they came on, which was surprising although Derby packed their defence as soon as they went one up.
The ref gave Ulloa absolutely nothing and kept penalising him. All refs seem to have something against him and I don't know why.
We badly missed Lua Lua today.
Hope we sign someone useful and soon.
Bridcutt is clearly on his way so we must have some money to play with.

Well mr ringpiece; if you had an extra brain cell then you would be an Amoeba. Your ip address shows you were no where near Derby today and I saw no D.i.c.k heads in our away support so that confirms you were not there. What a knob (spelt wrong) you are. To be hpnest I did give Bruno a roasting and did a few great moves only to pass to the person he shoukd have passed to or he humped it forward to Ulloa who had no support. To be fair Ulloa had 2 defenders on him most of the time and thats why we should have support. Bl..dy Reading have 7 goals so we need to push on back to the playoffs. Next few games are hard for us.
