Albion ace has a five-goal target

The Argus: The next aim for Rohan Ince is to get on the scoresheet The next aim for Rohan Ince is to get on the scoresheet

Rohan Ince has revealed his next goal for Albion - a goal.

In fact, make that a handful of them between now and the end of the season as Ince prepares for his FA Cup debut at Port Vale on Saturday.

The powerful young midfielder has made giant strides since Oscar Garcia converted him in the summer from a development squad centre-half into a first team midfielder.

He has already made 18 appearances this season but has not so far managed to enhance his growing reputation by scoring.

A chance to amend that statistic came and went in the closing stages of Albion's last outing at The Amex against Birmingham, when Ince made a bit of a mess of a three v one breakaway.

He said: "I think I was caught in two minds and a bit tired after a long run to get there but no excuses, I should definitely have scored.

"There is still a lot of improvement. I am far from a complete player yet but, with the help of Oscar and my team-mates and more appearances, I am getting more confidence.

"I'd like to get a few goals. I haven't even scored yet. I'd like to get at least five."

Albion need the other midfielders to chip in now that free-scoring Andrew Crofts is out for the rest of the campaign with a ruptured cruciate knee ligament.

The plight of the Welsh international is a reminder to Ince of the uncertainty of his industry - and how it helps to have people around that keep you grounded.

"He's (Crofts) been playing very well and a thing like that is really bad for him but shows how anything can happen in football," Ince said. "He was flying and has now been hit by an unfortunate injury.

"My mum and dad and agent as well all help me keep my feet on the ground. My dad is an Arsenal fan. When I used to play for Chelsea he followed me where ever I played, even if it was up north.

"He was a very honest critic and he has been a great influence."

The only thing he hasn't got at the minute is goals, the couple of opportunities he has had, he has looked like a centre half, but I think he will get one sooner or later and once he does I am sure he wont be a "jigsaw" anymore.

Rohan seems to have a good network around him to keep him grounded. I don't think he'll have to wait too long for his first goal. Good Luck young man. UTA

If Rohan can sort his heading a little he'll have 5 by the end of the season - best he speaks to Matty Upson!!

Maybe now Gus will have an extra £1 million to offer for Bridders after winning tonight - odd to see him noting down who may take the penalties rather than just leaving it to the players to decide on their own and see who grabs the ball. Even Gus's incompetence around penalties was unable to match that of United - plenty more penalty shoot outs no doubt in the Summer of 2014

Any Brighton fans got any comments about why your Chairman really got rid of Gus Poyet.../.....turns out to not have been a very good move...the man is ambitious and driven...Oh, maybe that's why, maybe B&HA are content to sit in or around the top of the Championship and rake it in...?
