THE Christmas meeting had the traditional mix of carols, mince pies and sherry and the speaker, former BBC producer Tony Hale, hit just the right note for the occasion with a highly entertaining and amusing talk, “Austerity to Posterity.”
A week later, almost 60 members and guests enjoyed a splendid Christmas lunch at The Wagon Wheel at Grimley and the pre-Christmas activities were rounded off with a canalside walk followed by lunch at The Navigation at Stoke Heath.
The club meets on the first Tuesday morning of the month at Avoncroft Arts Centre. Apart from these activities, there are summer outings as well as golf and snooker sections and the club aims to provide friendship, fellowship and fun for retired professional and businessmen.
New members are always welcome and can call Phil Bannister on 01527 833619 for more details.
