Albion have been drawn at home to Hull City in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

The draw with a Premier League side is a reward for Saturday's 3-1 fourth round victory away to Port Vale.

Steve Bruce's Hull side got through with a 2-0 win at Southend.

Albion have an excellent home record against the Tigers, having only ever lost once in Sussex, which was back in 1965.

The Seagulls have entertained Hull on 20 occasions since, winning 15 games and drawing five.

The tie is due to take place on Saturday February 15, subject to television.

Yep, Hull should be resting their better players and if we bring out our big guns have every chance of beating them. A cup run will do us good. UTA

Keep the profile low, whilst the big Premiership clubs knock each other out of the competition.
We need to make sure of a full and noisy Amex though.

So far this competition has not been too much of a distraction as we have been able to play some of the fringe players and youngsters. Now there will be a temptation to play the first X1 as the financial rewards improve and the lure of Wembley takes hold. It will be interesting to see how Oscar plays this one with a busy February schedule and tough games against Leeds and Wigan. I hope we go for it. 1983 will always be one of the greatest experiences of my life and it would be great to dream again.

I hadn't realised the draw meant we had 4 home games in 14 days. Should be quite a fortnight. It's a good draw, particularly given our record at home to Hull. Hull have lost their last three games too and could very easily lose their three games either side of their visit to us, so another upset defo on the cards.
Prem survival will certainly be their priority, so a good time to play them.
Then can we dream of a home quarter final game v Shef Wed and a mere 180 minutes from a Wembley final.

Dropping the boys who have got Brighton this far so far in the fa cup would be a real shame, I think. They've done really well. Perhaps the opposition so far hasn't been that challenging, but I do believe the youngsters have a greater desire rise to the challenge. Yesterday we got the result we should have done through what the bbc website described as a deserved win and professional performance. Perhaps a first XI might have been more inclined to slip on that banana (still haunted by Barnsleygate). But then, as the competition hots up we probably do need more experienced, level headed players involved. Hmm, difficult balance to find, I think.

Both us and hull have mid week games on the Tuesday prior to the game. Leeds and Southampton respectively. 3 home games on the trot for us.

Hulls last 6 Away games - LLDDLL (not the best)

Both new signings, Jelavic and Long will be cup tied. Although Fryatt has already scored at the Amex this season. I said a couple of weeks ago that I would quite like Fryatt to join our ranks either a loan or permanent move. I know he is not the marquee signing everyone wants but being realistic he wouldn't be out of our reach, is a natural goal scorer, works hard and is prem class!! Thoughts anyone?

All in all I see this as very much a winnable game.

A good draw all things considered.... Not a giant as some would have liked but definitely an outside chance to progress... Looking forward to it already.

Good rumour on NSC about Conway returning this week subject to a medical and personal terms.
Most rumours can be taken with a pinch of salt but this one comes from the guy who mentioned Grabban before anyone else.

I'd certainly welcome Craig back with open arms... We've really missed his drive and energy this past few weeks.

Fingers crossed.

A really good shout Hugo re Fryatt.I thought the other day he would be a good acquisition as he is now third or fourth choice after the two you've mentioned then there is Danny Graham.Fryatt's games to goals ratio is good-374 appearances-125 goals.

Interesting draw and no reason why we shouldn't put in a competitive performance.
Regarding signings I noticed Conway wasn't in the Cardiff squad on Saturday not even on the bench as he had been the previous round. On the other hand Mason started but didn't get that high a rating (only a 4). It may be a rather vain hope but it would be good if Burke and Co can still land the new targets that Oscar seems to want and need in the next 5 days or so.
A question to VegasSeagull. Have you been watching the HSBC World Series Rugby Sevens that is currently being played in Las Vegas at the moment (it's on live on Sky as I write) ? England lost to New Zealand in the quarter finals.

Yes a fair point but if Sir Tony sniffs a cup run with money to earn in the process, perhaps he might lean on Oscar a bit to get through to the next round.

Not that he picks the team of course. If we beat Hull, then we would almost certainly play someone big. UTA

Good draw. Definitely winnable and what I think is great is that four of the biggest guns are already drawn against each other. Which ever non-PL teams progress through this round will make for an interesting draw in Round 6.

England lost to New Zealand in the quarter finals.
watching right now, England winning 14-0 against France
we were going to watch live today but I hurt my back about a week ago, can't sit for too long, walk for too long of lie down for too long
Hope that your back gets better soon Vegas - thanks for the reply.

Hull City, one of the smaller Prem League clubs.....we aspire to be Prem League.

If we were, then this would be a fixture we would need to win. This tie will tell us a lot about whether the squad is good enough yet........
