Albion have confirmed the signing of former Celta Vigo striker David Rodriguez on a free transfer for the rest of the season.

Rodriguez fills the gap created by the sale of Ashley Barnes to Burnley earlier in the January transfer window.

The 27-year-old becomes the third new face at The Amex this month following the loan signing of fellow striker Jon Obika from Spurs and Charlton midfielder Dale Stephens.

Rodriguez cancelled his contract with Celta Vigo yesterday in order to facilitate his move to the Seagulls.

He will be available for Sunday's trip to Watford, subject to international clearance.

Albion's head coach Oscar Garcia said: "We wanted to add more competition to our striking options and David will bring that.

"He's shown throughout his career he is capable of scoring goals. He can play in all attacking positions.

"The challenge for him now is to push for a place in the team and prove between now and the end of the season he is worth a longer-term deal with the club."

Rodriguez has played for Celta, Almeria and Sporting Gijon during his time with Spain and moves to England with 38 career goals to his name in 112 appearances.
