Whitehawk have appointed Colin Reid as their new caretaker manager.

Reid replaces Kevin Keehan who was placed in interim charge last week following the departure of manager Darren Freeman.

Keehan, who made it clear he was not interested in the job permanently, agreed to step aside following a meeting with the club earlier today.

Reid is a highly respected coach who has worked with the academies at West Ham, Tottenham, Charlton and Leyton Orient. He has also spent time as first-team coach at Bishop’s Stortford and Macclesfield.

The 48-year-old was recommended to Whitehawk and has taken training this week.

He has also applied for the vacant managerial position and hopes a caretaker capacity will lead to a permanent appointment.

Reid said: “I wouldn’t want to keep the seat warm for someone else.

“I’m a very positive person. Hopefully I can go in there and get some results, which I’m very optimistic we can do.”
