Albion won't face star Watford pair

Fernando Forestieri scores for Watford at Man City last week

Fernando Forestieri scores for Watford at Man City last week

First published in Sport by

Almen Abdi has been ruled out of Watford’s home clash with Albion.

The talented attacking midfielder has suffered a recurrence of a persistent foot problem and misses the Seagulls’ visit tomorrow.

Lewis McGugan (thigh) also misses out but new Hungarian midfielder Daniel Tozser could feature.

The former Genoa man has not played a competitive match this season but Hornets say he is in shape to play, subject to international clearance.

Watford also picked up defensive midfielder Samba Diakite from QPR yesterday but lost Iriney to Mallorca.

Beppe Sannino’s men have won just one of their last 15 league matches, a run which includes their 1-1 draw at The Amex three months ago.

They have switched to a 3-4-2-1 formation of late and could use Fernando Forestieri and Ikechi Anya just behind 11-goal top scorer Troy Deeney.

Don’t miss The Argus this weekend for a comprehensive preview of Albion’s game at Watford.

Big game tomo, we need to win games, score goals... That's what other sides are doing!
Forest have the charge with a squad twice the size of ours, how we get in top 6 is not easy.... Rodders needs to step up.

I agree.
If we are going to make the playoffs we must win matches like this.

Good comments above. Of late we are only scoring the odd goal here and there---apart from Port Vale Cup match. We need to have some drive up front, supported by the midfield to start packing a few goals in. Goals win matches. getting only one goal puts too much pressure on players during matches, get a few early goals --pressure off, confidence flows. UTA and WIN tomorrow.

Watford are a team on a real downer at the moment, missing key players and they also played mid week when we didn't, so on balance this is a very good time for us to be up against them. In that respect I think it will be a measure of what metal we have (or not).

If we cant come away from Watford tomorrow with all 3 points then it doesn't hold us in good stead for the the sharp end of the season.

Anyone got a bet on SpanishDave to be substituted on 60 mins. Perhaps this week he'll be subbed for the new SpanishDave. The irony, two SpanishDaves to get us through 90 mins.

Watford 1 Brighton 3.

Watford are nothing like the team we faced last season who were the best side i saw so we could well see a 0-0 draw.

Why are we playing on Sunday, okay if the game is on TV,too many games are being shifted away from Saturday 3 p.m.

I'm not surprised, he's a very decent player playing for a manager he knows how to play for :-)

Perhaps Watford playing on Thursday night had something to do with it.

Warren Aspinal will be glad to hear that Almin Abdi won't be on the pitch for Watford, he had enough trouble with sayin 'Hel Habd' when Adam was on the pitch for us during the Radio Sussex commentaries

I'm not sure how he would pronounce 'Tozser' either.........best not to go there!

We do love you footballing observations though, Warren
