Albion have turned down interest from Peterborough in Lewis Dunk.

The League One club tried to sign Dunk on loan during the January transfer window to boost their challenge for the play-offs. They were knocked back as Dunk is now next in line at centre-half for the Seagulls behind captain Gordon Greer and Matt Upson after Adam El-Abd was sold to Bristol City.

Dunk, on the bench for Albion’s last three Championship games, made his first start for ten months in the recent FA Cup victory at Port Vale.

The loan transfer window opens tomorrow and head coach Oscar Garcia would prefer to have four central defenders to call upon.

The Seagulls were linked with free agent Chris Baird during the January transfer window but the versatile Northern Ireland international, recovering from injury at Reading, was not a cost-effective option.
