Albion's LuaLua will focus on his football rather than what future holds

The Argus: Kazenga LuaLua has put his Albion future on the backburner Kazenga LuaLua has put his Albion future on the backburner

Kazenga LuaLua has put his Albion future on the backburner to concentrate on his performances.

LuaLua is among several first team regulars out of contract at the end of the season.

The club have an option to extend the deal signed by the winger in 2011 to make his third loan move from Newcastle permanent.

LuaLua revealed to The Argus: “I’ve got the option, the club option after this season, so it’s up to the club really.

“I am just concentrating on playing football then who knows? Anything can happen.”

LuaLua is happy at Albion and is keen to stay.

“I would like to,” he said. “Of course, it is a good club but you never know where the future lies, we’ll have to wait and see.

“I just want to get on with my football, do the best that I can for the team.”

Albion face LuaLua’s former loan club Doncaster Rovers at the Amex today with a seven-point gap between them and the play-offs. “It’s a big game,” he said. “We’ve got four at home now and we have to try to win all four. For me, if we want to finish in the play-offs, it’s a must-win game.”

Hi, I would love him to stay at the Albion but how many players have come to the Albion on loan and said "Really enjoyed myself or am enjoying it here, it is a good club to play for"
Then go back from loan and sign for another club?
Again JMO but sometimes feel Albion are to slow of the mark with these players and we have a good example here with LL he loves playing for us but there seems no attempt to get his signature on paper for the next three or four seasons.

He has been with us so long that I forgot he was still on loan--one of our star players who --IMO--needs to be signed up to be permanent

Not very clearly written by the Argus, but he did sign permanently in 2011 after his 3rd loan spell with us. At least there is an option to extend. Squad may look quite different at the start of next season.

An exciting player with an inconsistent end product. When he does have a few good games it usually ends with an injury niggle. He has been one of our best player in a few games this season without really destroying the opposition - which he is capable of in my opinion.

Agree with Chi Gull that he does have the ability to destroy the opposition all most single handed. Consistency better this year. If he can stay fit and work on his end product I think has the ability to trouble any premier league side. Should be signed on a new long term contract this summer othrwise we all know what will happen come next January.

Fully agree. He's a saleable asset so worth our while re-signing him regardless of exact plans - secure his services or make money....I'd rather the former though.

Haven't seen a winger play against us that's been anywhere close to Kaz. He could become a very special player and he genuinely scares defenders, often the oppo have two or three players on him. And agree he obviously wants to commit to the Albion, so come on TB get him on a three year deal, he could easily perform in the premiership.

LuaLua is our biggest asset imo, he puts bums on seats and gets them off it when he charges forwards, he always has 2 defenders on him which is another reason to play a more attacking line up, if it's only Ulloa and LuaLua up front that's 2 defenders on each of them, chuck someone else (Rodney) up with them and all of a sudden players will have space, with Ince, Stephens and Orlandi in midfield we can accommodate this set up imo.
Whatever happens on the pitch in the next few months will make up the minds of those out of contract etc, if we do well and make the playoffs it will give them the desire to stay, if we fail to get top 6 with a couple of games still to go I think will see an exodus of players vital to next seasons push. 3-1 today, Ulloa to get a couple, let's make some noise. Prefer him as a substitute than a starter, when you see the difference he makes coming on as a sub, I think, "why didn't we start with him?" then he starts the next game and is not as effective.
