ALBION marksman Leo Ulloa believes the arrival of spring-heeled David Rodriguez can help him in his quest to return to regular goalscoring form.

Ulloa ended six matches without a goal, the longest barren spell of his Albion career, by heading the winner against Doncaster Rovers at the Amex.

The match also marked the full debut of January signing Rodriguez. Spaniard Rodriguez, formerly with Celta Vigo, featured on both wings as Ulloa scored for the first time since a double at Charlton on Boxing Day.

The Argentinian bought from Almeria a year ago told The Argus: “I know him because I have played against him. He is fast and he works hard and he has a good cross. He needs to gradually adapt and then I think he will be a good player for us.

“I am very happy, because I needed to score, but we needed it more. It was important for us to win.

“It’s difficult when you are not scoring. I want to score every game. Sometimes I haven’t had chances to score but you need to work for the team.”

Ulloa notched four goals in eight games at the start of the season before a fractured foot bone ruled him out for ten weeks.

He has struck three times in ten outings since his return, raising his overall tally for the club to 17 in 38 appearances.

“The injury was difficult,” Ulloa said. “Now I feel much better, now I feel 100 per cent. In this game and the last game (at Watford) I’ve felt good.”

Ulloa has been on target both times he has faced tomorrow night’s visitors Leeds United.
