Crofts aiming for August return

The Argus: Andrew Crofts hopes to be back from his injury against Birmingham in time for the start of next season. Andrew Crofts hopes to be back from his injury against Birmingham in time for the start of next season.

Albion midfielder Andrew Crofts has targeted a return to action at the start of next season after successful cruciate knee ligament surgery.

Crofts suffered the damage in last month's home win over Birmingham.

The Welsh international said: "I've been lucky because I've never really had a bad injury but I knew I'd done something bad, because it was something I'd never felt before.

"It's just day to day now. I've been working with the medical staff and I've got goals to reach here and there.

"It's seven months until the start of the season so that's realistic and, fingers crossed, I'll be back getting ready for that."

Crofts, a key cog of Albion's promotion challenge with six goals in 27 games, watched Saturday's victory over Doncaster at the Amex.

He said: "Things were going so well, I was loving my football and I think everyone could see that.

"Obviously it's tough but that's football. It was going really well and I was loving every minute of it and it's really hard at the minute but I was at the Doncaster game seeing the boys.

"Since the game against Birmingham we hadn't had a home game so I've just been watching Sky at home and it's not the same."

Remember Crofty punching the ground in frustration knowing the injury was a bad one. He was in some great form at the time, and we are missing him, hope Stephens can do a similar job and chip in with a few goals starting tomorrow night.

Wish Crofts a speedy recovery.
He was seriously our most committed player ths season and other players should take note.
My team for tomorrow:-
Kuz
Bruno upson dunk ward
Ince
Orlandi Stephens
Rodders Ulloa March

Subs Obika Brez Augustien Chicksen lua lua Lopez

Greer needs a rest, Jfc and Buckers need to be 100%

I think Mcormack is the threat and Ince needs to stop him with Dunk and Upson taking it in turns to push onto him when Ince atacks; really hope OG doesn't use Ince and Andrews cos 2 cdm are not needed.
I don't think Leeds are all that and were lucky against Yeovil so we need to finish them early. Lua lua on at half time and introduce Obika if Ullpa is tiring.

Andrews is injured, so I also hope OG doesn't pick him.

I would also be absolutely amazed if OG drops Greer for Dunk. Dunk is very good IMO but Greer is the skipper and doesn't deserve to be moved aside. I also wouldn't give Dunk his first league game of the season in one as big as this one.

Not really taken too much notice of SM but aware of his potential - which side does he normally play? Watching him against Doncaster I thought it odd that he was on the right but he's left footed. He was often trying to move the ball onto his left foot which meant he was taking extra touches before trying to put the ball into the box. What does anyone think about playing him on the left, with Rodders (this seems to be the name most have settled on - personally don't like it as it makes him sound a bit 'dim') on the right or central, with KLL and WB (if fit enough) coming on later, left and right accordingly?
