Solly March admits he has surprised himself by his progress this season.

The 19-year-old from Eastbourne has started the last two Championship games for Albion, in the wins against Doncaster and Leeds. He has played some part in each of the last six matches, including scoring his first senior goal in the FA Cup win at Port Vale last month.

March knows, with the likes of Will Buckley and Jake Forster-Caskey returning from injury and Kazenga LuaLua pushing for a start after two impressive substitute appearances, there is now hot competition for places.

But the former Lewes youngster is pleased with how his breakthrough season is going. He said: “The more I play the more comfortable I’m starting to feel. The first game was nerve-racking. It is still tough but now the more minutes I play it becomes easier.

“The game is a lot faster but I’m getting used to it and hopefully I can play more games and make more of an impact.

“My career is developing a bit quicker than I thought but hopefully Ican keep it going.”
