Paul McShane will miss out on a reunion with Albion in the FA Cup at the Amex on Monday.
The Hull defender has been sidelined for the rest of the season by ankle damage sustained in Tuesday's home defeat by Southampton.
McShane suffered the injury in an accidental collision with his own goalkeeper, former Albion loanee Steve Harper, who is likely to face the Seagulls.
Irishman McShane is fondly remembered by Albion fans for scoring the winning goal against arch-rivals Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park during 40 appearances on loan from Manchester United in 2005-06.
Harper played five games for Albion on loan from Newcastle two seasons ago.
The 38-year-old is expected to keep his place against the Seagulls, despite the availability of Allan McGregor after a three-match ban.
