Eastbourne Borough boss Tommy Widdrington believes more should be done to stop clubs making unnecessary journeys.

Borough’s match away to Bromley on Tuesday was called off at 7pm, despite an earlier announcement that the pitch was playable.

It was a familiar feeling for Borough who have been victims of other late postponements in the last year.

Widdrington said: “That is the fourth time in 12 months when we have got to the ground and it has been called off.

“I have no gripe with Bromley but the people in charge of the league need to get the match referee there earlier in these situations.

“It is frustrating. The cost of travelling is a big issue to our clubs. It was the right decision to call the game off but it should have been done earlier.”

Borough are away to Boreham Wood today - weather permitting.
