Mixed emotions for Oscar

The Argus: Oscar Garcia at tonight's game with Hull Oscar Garcia at tonight's game with Hull

Oscar Garcia expressed a mixture of emotions after Albion’s 1-1 draw with Hull City in the fifth round of the FA Cup at the Amex.

The Seagulls’ head coach was proud of his young side but also disappointed they were unable to hold on for a win.

He said: “In the first half we were the better side, in the second half the game was very even. We had the chances to win but the game could have gone either way.

“I am really pleased with the performance of all my players, especially the young players.

“When you concede late on you can be a little bit disappointed but my feelings are really good. I am really happy, not with the final result but happy because all my players show to everybody they can play in the Championship and most of them are good enough to play in the Premier League.”

Well said Oscar. Dunk, March, Ince and JFC were outstanding. Buckley looked good for 45 mins - hoping it was a planned change? Upson also good but a little at fault for their goal. Andrews had a good first half but faded in the 2nd. Kaz was a huge disappointment - but he is allowed one bad game after the season he has had so far. Chicksen was caught out of position a few times but kept going well, and didn't always get support from Kaz when he had the ball. Dunk looked back to his best. Very good defensively and used the ball really well, especially in the first half. JFC was all over the pitch, got up well to support the front players and was back helping out too - the best I have seen him play. Fantastic finish from Ulloa for the first goal, but a bit of a glaring miss with that header. If it had been Barnes - I can imagine the abuse from posters on here, but his all round game was good today.

Great effort by the lads and so passing to see the youth coming through- the future's bright! JFC really stood out and dunk, ince and March all played well Somewhat frustrated we didn't get the win as think we deserved it overall, got to be more clinical and can't keep hoping to be able to defend a 1-0 lead. But great to see us not looking out of our depth at all against a premier league side. Come on boys, put it right in the replay!

It was a really good effort by all our players. Oscar unfortunately blew the result when he withdrew Ulloa who had been occupying 3 Hull defenders all night and gave them open licence to attack. Despite manning the barricades it was no surprise that they eventually had to equalise. Sad to see so many of our players nor knowing what to do when they get to the penalty area. We desperately need another player with a nose for the goal area.
