Albion flying for Hull replay

Albion are flying high in an attempt to pull off another valuable away win.

The Seagulls have hired a 50-seater Fokker aircraft to whisk them to Hull and back for Monday night's FA Cup fifth round replay.

They will take off from Gatwick on Sunday evening and Humberside Airport is being kept open for the return journey late on Monday night after the match, which could go to extra-time and penalties.

Albion hired a smaller sized jet to take them to Blackpool for their final fixture of 2013 and were rewarded with a valuable 1-0 victory.

The club wants to give the players the best preparation possible for the Hull tie, hot-on-the-heels of Wigan's visit tomorrow, to try to seal a quarter-final clash against Gus Poyet's Sunderland at the Amex.

Could have gone up in the morning and saved hotel costs if flying. No need for an overnight stay, only a hotel to have a meal at. Hull flew to Southend for their recent FA Cup tie and it took them 22 minutes!

It's a Fokker to get to Hull!

(Nicked from an advertising campaign run by Dick Night's advertising agency back in the nineties. It was for the launch of a new business airline and they placed huge posters in major cities with the headlines, ''It's all business class on this Fokker'' and ''It's a Fokker to get to Paris'').

It seems with the club's gesture to fans and now this chartered flight that the club are using the additional tv money (from this replay) to subsidise the best preparations for advancement to the next stage of The Cup. Speculate to accumulate and all that. If we progress, we reap the rewards financially and in terms of prestige, if we fail it's money spent that we weren't expecting to get a week ago anyway!

I'm sure TB's childhood memory of The Cup Finals of '83 are still fresh in the memory and he sees this year's run as the best opportunity for many a year for us to put ourselves back on the FA Cup map. If this is indeed the case, I wholeheartedly agree with him.
