Hoskins earmarked for comeback

The Argus: Will Hoskins is on the brink of returning from injury Will Hoskins is on the brink of returning from injury

Will Hoskins has been pencilled in for his long-awaited return to action on Monday.

The Albion striker could play a part for the development team against Bristol City at Lancing (2pm).

Hoskins has been out for almost a year after two cruciate knee ligament operations.

Head coach Oscar Garcia said: "Will is taking part in most of the training."

This is probably the best news I have seen for quite a while. Hopefully he will be back at 100% in terms of confidence in terms of tackles - not easy after all he has gone through - and that will give us so many more options up front. Can't wait to see him back in action.

Is he? Please explain? I feel sorry for him due to his injurys, but come on....he has done nothing for us. Goal against Cardiff, Goal against Nwecatle..and a handfull of tame performances! Great player?/ i don't think so.

We had he chance to get him off the pay roll in the summer, but we chose to keep him on - were not a charity.

I know I will get a handfull of thumbs down from all the Albion 'do-gooders' but he has been a waste of money!!! how can a fan not see that?

We all have different opinions on players, Tommy. I have played and watched football for a long time and I happen to have formed a personal view that Hoskins, if 100% fit - a big if, I readily accept - is a very talented and skilful player who would be an asset to any championship side. I formed that view very quickly when I first saw him and posted accordingly at the time. I know there a lot of fellow posters who do not agree. Fair enough.
I would commend that you look back at our former manager's comments about Hoskins when he signed him. Summed up Hoskins ability perfectly for me.

Utter tripe Tommy 11. Hoskins has been very unlucky indeed with his injuries, but before his last one was showing signs of the sort of form to why we signed him in the first place. I suppose you haven't had ago at CMS. Because he hasn't shown the form for us as he did for Peterborough. What ever your on, is definitely making you make rash comments. Support the guy and the team, not be critical!!

Fair argument - but I disagree. I too have watched & played football for years. Hoskins is too slow, can't head, nice touch but not tough enough.....He will never make it in the championship as not strong enough. I would love him to prove me wrong. But he won't, sorry.

Will be released at the end of the season, and will drift through the leagues....sorry to be negative but you heard it hear first.

Sorry Hoskins Fans.

He has not been value for money, but he can't put that right unless he is fit, surely you would welcome the chance for him to play and earn his wage?
Nothing to do with being a "do gooder", I want to see him playing for us.
I believe he will repay the club and you will see some great football from him, he is an intelligent player who reads the game well.

Undecided myself, heard lots, seen very little, some really bad injuries that could possibly curtail any real success on the pitch. No doubt Freeloaders and his various other guises will be on to inform us of Hoskins play boy binge drinking,he'll raising ways.

Do any of you ever consider that this news is being fed to us? The day cms has a " set back " Hoskins is fired up !! We announced we lost14.5 million , next day entrance fees went up.
Hoskins is a month from being anywhere close to recovering ...
Cms again a month away... Best for the club we pretend they are nearly back rather than explain why we have not been to the loan market ! As for obika , send him back .... Shockingly poor touch.

Paranoia as well as negativity! Agree with you about Obika though,he is dire. Lita was twice as good, mistified by his treatment from the club, perhaps he was just not liked?

Ah, I knew there was another obsession of yours - the club and its PR/spin dept. Everything's a conspiracy, isn't it?

Is Hoskins' imminent return date not newsworthy in its own right? It is spin that Hoskins' return is around the same time CMS has a MINOR set-back? What I want to know is, what do you think will this do to sales of season tickets next season? After all our squad is thin and Upson is the wrong side of 20 and we only need to lose another 15 players to injury and the season will be over. Blah blah blah...

Seriously, maybe something positive from you once every few days wouldn't be too hard, would it? This is a GOOD season - we're doing better than last year with an injury ravaged squad, yet there's always something to whine about.

On the subject of spin, the club spins non stop and do it with a picture of a popular player apparently saying it like it's genuinely what he believes.

Like players saying we have a strong squad. Errrrr we only have one fit striker!

Talk of a strong squad is only done to take the pressure off the club to enter the loan market

Also, the spin about FFP and a 14m loss has to e taken with a pinch of salt. A turnover of about 25m plus a loss of over 14m means a total expenditure of 40m. What can they be spending all that money on? Player's wages? Well at an average of 10k per player per week that's only 10m per year. Is it director's salaries or interest in loans from directors or from banks?

You can't include transfer fees or capital expenditure in the loss because that shows up as assets to counterbalance the liabilities in the accounts.

Any pruning or cost cutting will be down to the need or desire to pay back loans ahead of schedule rather than cover any operating loss. With the huge gates, by far the largest in the league the club must be making a whopping operating profit

I hope those people having a go, don't do the same to CMS who has been out for over a year, or Andrew Croft. good luck to them as well.UTA.
