How will Oscar play it as Albion face two big tests?

The Argus: Oscar Garcia Oscar Garcia

Oscar Garcia is trying to avoid becoming a head coach turned plate-spinner.

The Albion boss has two big games coming up – at home to Wigan today and at Hull on Monday.

But don’t expect him to concentrate on two tricky tasks at the same time.

Oscar is likely to forget all about the FA Cup replay on Monday as he picks his side to face Championship rivals Wigan today.

He has lost Solly March and has a doubt over Will Buckley.

But he can bring back players rested against Hull on Monday and has the cup-tied Dale Stephens available.

So how will Oscar play it this afternoon? What will his side be against the in-form Latics?

And what would you do in his shoes?

We’d love to know your views.

They are 2 different matches. Today is a home Championship match and a 6 pointer. A must win. Monday is a cup match away, a nice to win.

Not good news re Solly but Buckley might be available.. Ill take that.

For me we have to go for it from the off.

I think the back 5 will see Ward and Bruno re introduced today and I also think that Rohan will have 2 different partners today in Orlandi and Stephens.
If Buckley is fit, I wouldn't mind him starting on one flank with kaz on the other with both told to run themselves in to the ground. (Still have both David's as back up.
Obviously the big man up top.

Lets go for it today... Another good win over Wigan will boost confidence and see us potentially only 1 point of the play offs again... What more motivation is needed?

Really looking forward to today

Should have had a decent loanee striker in place for todays game, the Blues Bros fiddle about while Rome is burning.

Oscar, in thinking about just one game at a time, has some tough decidions to make today, and again injuries to our players play a part. I think that this is one time when Oscar is thinking about more than just one match, especially when it comes to Buckley, Solly, Ulloa and to a lesser degree Kaz.
Gaining three points today will help in our quest for a top six spot, and he will have to pick a team that he thinks can get those points, that is priority number one. Priority number two, on the face of it, might seem to be the replay against Hull but perhaps our next league match should fill that spot and the replay placed in third spot and if we get three points today off Wigan that might make our next league match even more important.

The eleven we send out to face Hull, a little more than 48 hours after playing Wigan, will be chosen from those that have not played and those that Oscar thinks can get thru two 90 minutes matches in quick succesion, but then he will also have to think about who he wants available for our next match, away to Millwall four days later. My guess is that the eleven for Hull will not please some of those on here that call for our, 'best eleven,' to try to bring Sunderland to the Amex. If getting three points off Wigan is important then surely three from the Millwall game are just as important so where does that leave the Hull replay.

Perhaps they are living life or have more interesting things to do and cannot spend all day pouring over their own comments on here?

Yes it's quite possible that they are busy, I myself will miss all the fun today, work must come first. Good to see that you have plenty of time to commit to the forum, I guess like me you are flexible with your work hours and, like me, you choose to spend some time on here rather than doing something else. I suppose it's slightly different for me, most days I log on at around 4am, so I can contribute on here, have a life as you put it, and still have plenty of hours for my work, is that how it is for you too?

No I'm here, it's been a quiet since Monday. For me, at the moment, the league is the most important so team selection should reflect that. I'm satisfied with the team he's picked today.

Very kind of you to say, Vegas, and Claude: I wouldn't say that! ;0)

Will post my post-match observations on the relevant thread above later tonight. Stay tuned! ;0)
