Stephens chases home hat-trick

The Argus: Dale Stephens in action on his home debut against Doncaster a fortnight ago Dale Stephens in action on his home debut against Doncaster a fortnight ago

Dale Stephens reckons Wigan have top-flight quality.

But he has set his sights on a home hat-trick as the Latics come to the Amex today.

The deadline day signing has played in two 1-0 wins at his new home ground since joining from Charlton.

He is eyeing a third success to nudge the Seagulls three points clear of their visitors.

Stephens said: “They have got Premier League players in their side and they showed last week they can still compete at that level.

“They had a very good Cup win at Cardiff so we will take them very seriously and hopefully do the job."

He added: “We have been very solid since I’ve been here. I’m not saying that’s because of me!

“We have got good players here and we have played well at home. Hopefully that can continue.”

First test of 4 in a row at home! And it's sunny! Very tough game today.
0-1 is my gut feeling.

Really, you're predicting a defeat? ;-)

Really looking forward to todays game.

I hope we put out our strongest 11 to start today.. Beating Wigan (again) would be a huge confidence boost in my opinion and knowing we could jump above them and only be a point off Reading again subject to their result is a huge motivator.

Id love to see us go for it from the start today... get the attacking flair on from outset and get a goal or 2 up before making changes if necessary.
Kaz has got to be told to go out there and run himself in to the ground for 60 or 70 minutes and hopefully the other wing will see either a fit Solly or Buckley in situ. (Dave 2 to come on later)
I think we might see the other midfield berths covered by Dale, Rohan and Andrea with Leo up top.

heres to 3 points and another win at home.

A big game for us today and with Reading taking on Blackburn and Forest away to Burnley, two matches that would serve us well if the results go our way, a win today could be huge.
Not sure why MBTS feels that we will lose this one, our home form is better than Wigan's away form, the bookies certainly don't agree with him.
We might be without Buckley and Solly today, and I guess Spanish Dave will come into the reckoning but we also have Rodriguez who can play wide on the right, and that is how I think Oscar will go with Dave on the bench. We have Olandi and Kaz who can play on the left side. Bruno with Rodders in front of him might prove to be something new and exciting, I am sure that this would have been tried in training. 2-0 Brighton.
