Will Hoskins made a goalscoring return from injury today for Albion’s under-21s.

The striker marked his comeback from a year out following a cruciate knee ligament injury with the opening goal in a 1-1 draw against Bristol City’s development side at Lancing.

Hoskins was withdrawn as planned after completing a lively half-hour leading the line.

The 27-year-old swept home a Jeffrey Monakana pullback with a first time right foot strike after only nine minutes.

He also pulled another shot wide of Robins keeper David Richards’ left-hand post and was just off-target with a header.

The Robins hit back ten minutes from time through Stephen Pearson, the former Derby County midfielder who scored their winner in the 2007 Championship play-off final.

Hoskins said: “It was a great feeling to be back. You can obviously do a lot in training but it is never the same until you get into a game.”
