Albion's new recruit Jesse Lingard has vowed to cope with the high expectations of supporters and the Lions’ Den.

Lingard makes his debut for the Seagulls at Millwall tomorrow after signing on loan from Manchester United for the rest of the season, including the play-offs.

The England under-21 striker scored four goals in his first appearance on loan to Championship rivals Birmingham earlier in the season and was on target for United’s under-21 side against Sunderland on Monday night.

Lingard said: “I am ready. You have to to cope with the pressure but I think I’ll be all right.

“I’m ready for the game on Saturday.

“Hopefully I can start getting involved and do what I do against Millwall straight away, rather than having to wait two or three games to get into it.”

Lingard trained with Albion at Withdean yesterday as they attempt to get their play-off challenge back on track at Millwall.

He has already scored against the struggling South Londoners this season, in a 4-0 home win for Birmingham, and has no fears about another barracking from their notorious fans.

“It was a tough game,” Lingard said. “I got a lot of stick off the fans. “I won a penalty, missed the penalty and ended up scoring in the second half.

“I’ve only been to Millwall with Leicester but I was on the bench warming up.

“It’s a tough place to go but I’m ready.”

Lingard, targeted by Albion during the January transfer window, will be straight back on international duty after his debut.

He is poised to win his fifth cap for England under-21s against Wales at Derby’s Ipro Stadium on Wednesday.

Good lad, let's hope we play attacking football , the den is not a place for weak minds! Let's get 0-2 up by half time and put game to bed for once!
Loan player to lift the fans! Just what we need!

The mere fact that Manchester Utd fans are bemoaning this loan bodes well for our attacking options. If views expressed on Twitter are to be believed, Lingard should have been given his chance in Red Devils' first team this season and, given his four-goal debut for Birmingham, this could well be the loan signing we need to catapult us into the playoffs.

Bring on Saturday!

Oscar wanted a player that could hit the ground running so lets hope he starts at millwall, and does not have to wait until 70 minutes, its quite a coo for brighton to get a player of this quality, im really looking forward to millwall game now..this could just be the key we've been waiting for to finnish off some of our beautiful footie. ..UTA......Seagulls.

Love his confidence. Exactly what we have been missing up front ( apart from Leo). Three points has to be our target Saturday, so here's hoping Ince, Buckley/March & Orlandi are fit enough to start.
