NATHAN Jones says there is a lot more to come from Albion newcomer Jesse Lingard.

The on-loan Manchester United striker earned the decisive penalty in Saturday’s gritty 1-0 win at Millwall.

Lingard was substituted midway through the second half but Jones expects him to get more of an opportunity to parade his attacking talents in back-to-back home games against Reading and QPR.

The assistant head coach told The Argus: “There will be a lot more fluency in our play when he will be able to show what he can do. He’s one we are really hopeful for. He gives us added quality.

“Hopefully he can continue his form. He goes away with England under 21s now so he has a good pedigree. We are pleased to have him.”

David Lopez controversially won the points for the Seagulls from the spot after Lingard was knocked over in the box by Danny Shittu, Millwall’s powerful captain. Jones said: “We played against QPR on Boxing Day a few years ago and I can remember doing exactly the same thing, just nicking in front of Danny Shittu and he only had to lean on me and he hit me into an advertising board. He only has to lean on you a little bit because he is a very strong lad. Some would say it’s not quite a pen, some would say he did touch him in the box.

“Early on in the season we had so many shouts against Derby and people like that for handball and didn’t get them. They say these things even themselves out, so maybe they are.”
