Hart leaves Borough
Gary Hart’s playing career in Sussex appears to have come to an end after being released by Eastbourne Borough.
The former Albion favourite has parted company with the club after manager Tommy Widdrington decided to end his non-contract agreement.
In three seasons with Borough, the 37-year-old made 97 appearances, scoring 13 goals, but has struggled with injuries recently.
Widdrington said: “I have spoken with Gary Hart and informed him today of my intention to end his non-contract agreement with the club a little earlier than expected.
“He has struggled with fitness lately and with the particularly hectic period ahead of us I feel it is a short odds bet whether he would be available for many of the fixtures we have left.
“Gary goes with the very best wishes of myself and everyone else here at Priory Lane. During my time in charge he has been a true pro, bringing elements often not recognised by people outside of the dressing room which have helped the restructuring of the playing squad’s profile.”
Hart made 415 appearances in 13 seasons with Albion, scoring 46 goals, after joining from non-league Stansted in 1998.
It is understood he may now return to Essex where he could continue playing, possibly combined with a coaching role.
