Greer still unbeaten - and it's pride for Walton

Albion skipper Gordon Greer earned a third Scotland cap last night – but he still does not know how it feels to concede an international goal.

Greer helped the Scots to an excellent 1-0 friendly win over Poland in Warsaw.

He played the full 90 minutes to add to appearances in the 0-0 draw with the USA and a 1-0 win in Norway earlier this season.

It was also a special night for young Albion goalkeeper Christian Walton, who made his England under-19s debut.

Walton went on as a second-half substitute as they beat Turkey 3-0 at Chester.

Stephen Ward played the first 64 minutes of the Republic of Ireland’s 2-1 friendly defeat at home to Serbia.

Recent loan signing Jesse Lingard and Vitalijs Maksimenko were unused substitutes for England under-21s and the senior Latvian side respectively.

Congratulations to all our lads who played last night, just hope they have saved something for the weekend! 2 big important games to come in the next few days and we could do without tired legs or silly strains, but i guess it goes with having quality players in the side. onwards and upwards. UTA

Congrats to all concerned. Anyone know when poor old Matsimenko last played a game... He must have bench sores by now...!!! Pleased to see Jesse Lingard will be fresh for Saturday (selfish I know but needs must) and endorse the comments on Walton - but why wait for next season ?

Surely if the club thought Walton was better than Brez or Angkers he would already be number 2? Maybe they think he's not ready yet, which is understandable as he's still a kid.

I want to se Mr Walton on the bench for rest of this campaign. He needs to be around the 1st team match day build up This does not stop him being a major part of the DS.
Sorry to write thia and I hope I am wrong, but TK seems to be making It clear he will not be around next season so we need to look at a new keeper as well and say good bye and good luck to Casper and Peter

And what if TK gets injured and it then becomes obvious that Walton is not yet ready for first team action? It could derail our play-off ambitions.

OG will get Walton involved as soon as he thinks he's ready for it. It could be this season, it could be next, it could even be never. Trust OG to make the right call.

If Brezovan and Ankergren leave at the end of the season then another will come in to replace them. We won't have a 19 yr old as our only backup.
