Albion fans did not know whether to cheer or laugh as Leo Ulloa’s stranglehold on goalscoring at the Amex ended today.

The Seagulls were handed a farcical 16th-minute lead at home to play-off rivals Reading.

Chris Gunter’s header into his own net was the first Albion goal at the Amex NOT scored by Ulloa since David Lopez volleyed home against Birmingham eight weeks ago.

But fans were chuckling as they watched replays on the big screens at the Amex.

A bout of short passing ended with a hopeful ball towards the edge of the box by David Lopez.

It had cleared Ulloa and goalkeeper Alex McCarthy was coming out to collect.

But Gunter headed back to where he thought McCarthy was standing and watched it bounce gently into the net.

Bizarrely it was the second time a Welsh international had opened the scoring for Albion at home to Reading this year.

Andrew Crofts hit the only goal when the sides met in the FA Cup.
