Leo Ulloa has admitted Albion must pose more of a goal threat if they are to make the play-offs.

But he says the midweek win and defensive performance against QPR has given morale a massive lift.

The Argentinean striker was on target for the sixth time in eight games to spark a 2-0 success over Harry Redknapp’s men on Tuesday.

Albion won despite only having three shots on target and Ulloa admits they need to get in on goal more frequently in coming matches.

He said: “We want to keep playing as we are but I still think there is more to come from us.

“We can still attack a little better and get more efforts on the opposition goal. But I think we are playing well and that result really made it a good week.”

Ulloa has assured fans he goes into the run-in having shrugged off an ankle problem that was hindering him recently.

He added: “It’s good now. I don’t feel any pain. I had a really bad time because of the wet weather. It was hurting a bit but I never had to stop playing.

“When the pitches are heavy it starts to ache but now they are harder it’s a lot better.”

Ulloa says he is enjoying being an outsider in the play-off push against bigger-budget clubs. He added: “It speaks volumes about us that, after so many injuries and losing players, we still depend on ourselves and no one else to get into the play-offs.

“There is more pressure on teams who have come down or teams with big money, such as Nottingham Forest who have invested heavily.

“But just because there is no expectation on us doesn’t mean we aren’t going for it. We’re doing all we can to get into the play-offs.”
