Albion show the way to Italian clubs

The Argus: The Amex has won admirers far and wide The Amex has won admirers far and wide

Albion have been giving Italian clubs the grand tour of the Amex.

Representatives of Serie B (second tier) clubs were shown around on Tuesday when the Seagulls played QPR.

The stadium is seen as a perfect example of a modern venue that would be suitable for Serie B clubs or even medium-sized Serie A outfits.

They also visited Albion’s new training ground in Lancing.

Andrea Abodi, president of the Serie B League, said several clubs were keen to update their facilities or build new stadia.

Chairman Tony Bloom and chief executive Paul Barber showed what was on offer at the Amex.

This may seem a non story but it does indicate how far our great club has progressed in the last few years and how lucky we are to have such a great facility at the Amex. I still have to pinch myself every time I go there. UTA

News to me though so glad to read about it.

The Italians will need one vitally missing ingredient though. The Championship is a better attended league than Serie A, let alone Serie B, and we have the largest crowds in the division. Hope they took account of that fact during the experience on Tuesday.

Overall though, it's more good recognition and encouraging signs that we've got things right. I'm still immensely proud of the fact that we won the stadium design award (a year or two ago) announced in Turin: home of rival candidates Juventus.

Great work Tony, Martin and co!!!

With persons such as the Italians visiting our profile as a club is raised, and the more people overseas talk about what they have seen, the more chance there is of maybe attracting new players. If the day comes when a couple of 17 yearolds from Italy attend our acadamy, we might be able to trace their arrival all the way back to the recent visit of the reps of Serie B.

Any post that starts "Sorry but..." is generally not worth posting. And rarely worth reading.
