Orlandi out and Oscar faces tricky decisions for Bolton clash

The Argus: Dale Stephens will slot in but Oscar faces tricky calls elsewhere in his line-up Dale Stephens will slot in but Oscar faces tricky calls elsewhere in his line-up

Albion will be without Andrea Orlandi for the third match running at Bolton tomorrow as Oscar Garcia contemplates two tricky calls.

The Spanish midfielder has still not recovered from a thigh injury which has ruled him out since the Seagulls won their last away outing at Millwall.

It is another setback for Orlandi after forcing his way back into the team in the central role he prefers. He only returned to contention in January following knee cartilage surgery.

Fellow midfielder Dale Stephens, back from a foot problem as a late substitute in Tuesday’s victory against QPR, will return in place of on-loan Keith Andrews, who cannot play against his parent club.

Oscar is mulling over whether to retain Lewis Dunk in the centre of defence and Will Buckley on the right-wing. Dunk deputised effectively for captain Gordon Greer, who served a one-match ban against Rangers for his red card against Reading last Saturday. Oscar said: “I am very pleased with him, because in all the games he has played his performance has been really good. “I am sure he will be a fantastic player for Brighton for a long time.”

Albion are treading carefully with Buckley. He made his first league start of the year on Tuesday after persistent hamstring problems.

Good news for all injured players is fact pitches are drying up, that's training and match pitches.
We don't have a great deal of choice in terms of central midfielders,
Bolton are on a good run, I feel we are better against stronger sides, something that we were not last season,..
Give Buckley a hour , replace him with lua lua.

Same team as Saturday except as the Argus says, Stevens for Andrews.
See how Buckley goes and sub March for him if needed.
Dunk is the future so keep with him imo, he is quicker than Greer and a better passer of the ball, he will only get better working alongside Upson.

Agree, don't want Dunk doing an El-abd after a faultless display, think we should have taken Leeds offer for Greer. Solid player but back end of his career now, both bookings against Reading were down to his lack of pace.

Really ? Check out what bristol city fans think of " El BAD ... Or ElBow as he is nick named.. As for Dunk , he has the talent but he needs to show it ,
In some ways I would be happy with knowing we would not make play offs, if that's what happens .. Ideally I would like to see march, dunk chickson and Walton given some time on the pitch, JFC as well..

Lewis Dunk should keep his place and Will Buckley should feature, although in his case we must tread carefully in case he suffers a recurrence of his injury.
Apart from Dale Stephens in for Keith Andrews I would play much the same team as Tuesday but whatever Oscar decides I'll support him. Simple.UTA

What El- abd is doing at Bristol City is totally irrelevant, in Greers absence he was excellent for us and very unlucky to be dropped. Dunk is the future and under OG will only improve.

I would like to think that Dunk keeps his place tomrrow but this will be one tough match to win, and for that reason, Oscar might opt to have his captain back. If Greer does start I think it will be becaue Oscar wants the stability that comes from have his regular back five in place for this one. I said a tough one to win, this could even be a tough one to just to get a point from.
Bolton have scored 11 goals in their lat four matches, and a crditable 0-0 draw away to Derby followed the demolition of Leeds on their own turf where the result was 1-5.
Those that think Dunk should retain his place do have a case to argue, Dunk is half a yard quicker than Greer (according to reports) and he is showing some good form, it might be that that half a yard of extra pace will be needed at the back, but Greer has led the back line very well this season, as evedenced by the small number of goals we have conceded coupled with the high number of clean sheets gained.

I am going to plump for consistency and say that Greer will start.

Not ready to start yes, but 20 or 30 minutes toward the end might be needed or adavantageous to help him in his recovery. He will have to come off the bench before he ever gets to start so if the situation permits..........

How in gods name was he faultless against Hull???? Watch both games again if you can.Yes he had a very good game against QPR so he should keep the shirt.Lets see what his like after that big knew contract is signed ha?
Dunk was excellent in the first game against Hull and was many pundits' MoM. Not great in the replay (but then who was?) but by all accounts he was superb again against both Reading and QPR.

You're just going to have to accept he is a decent player.
