Buckley double as Albion win again

The Argus: Will Buckley scores his and Albion's second goal (photo Simon Dack) Will Buckley scores his and Albion's second goal (photo Simon Dack)

Will Buckley scored twice to send Albion soaring to victory at Bolton today.

The winger was on target in each half to secure a 2-0 win at the Reebok.

Victory – and a 17th clean sheet of the season – came in the rare absence of defensive kingpin Matt Upson, who is ill.

But Lewis Dunk turned in another impressive display at the back as the Seagulls enhanced their play-off chances.

Buckley, who had a trial with Bolton as a teenager, had only previously scored one goal this season – against the Trotters at the Amex in September.

He produced a smart finish on 13 minutes after his initial effort had been brilliantly saved by Adam Bogdan.

Albion had to withstand pressure after that.

Tomasz Kuszczak saved well from Alex Baptiste’s curler and Medo’s free-kick clipped the bar before half-time.

Then, in the second period, Joe Mason fired inches wide before seeing a close-range finish ruled out for offside.

But Albion put together a neat move involving Bruno and Jake Forster-Caskey, who released Buckley to coolly finish a one-on-one.

I feared for the worst when upson was ill. But what a result against a flying Bolton !
I saw march as the tricky part of our season , however we are playing better in defence and now scoring goals.
I said this week it was time for Buckley to step up and score! Then he hits two!
Andrews and upson available next week should balance the subs bench with better options than today!
Add forest not winning at home and it's been a perfect day!

Excellent result, but we must keep the momentum going, a win against Ipswich next Saturday should see us in 6th. Win our game in hand and we are only 4 points behind 3rd place. 9th placed team now 5 points adrift of us so that leaves 6 teams fighting it out for the 4 playoff places, and of those 6 we have the worst goal difference but I can see us scoring a few more goals from now on and much like last year finish in style. A 100% fit Will Buckley makes a massive difference to our attacking options. Fingers crossed, he can put a run of games together now and fire us into the playoffs.

Looking like four from six now, although another massive game awaits next Saturday as Ipswich will be drinking at the last-chance saloon.

Well our, 'iron defense,' didn't show any signs of metal fatigue, only going by reports but I guess the score line speaks for it's self.
Looking forward to hearing from those that were at the match, get their views. With a bit of luck Freedman will accept that we were the better team and that the result was right, but that might be wishful thinking.

I only watched on stream ,I didn`t see the game until the half hour mark ,but we were brilliant ,some of our play was sublime ,we deserved this win entirely ,I appreciate it was not all one way ,but considering we were the away side ,I think we bossed the game , I am looking forward to hearing from the guys that went ,they certainly made a noise ,and it`s always good to see their fans leave early ,not that they had a lot to start with .

Some of our movement and passing was incredible ,we worked for each other ,and some of the plays were 1st class in any league ,the lads moved and worked for each other ,and as a result imho dominated the second half ,almost to the point of embarrassment on their part .

Vegas ,there is his video ,ridiculous man ,hence ( Daughter of Manag ) my comments yesterday , I know I would not swap Oscar for freedman .

I thought that we made Bolton look very poor indeed, which only goes to show how well we played. Lewis Dunk was Warren Aspinall's Man of the Match, which will not please Freeloaders. Shame! There is no doubt though that a fit Buckley has made all the difference, no wonder Gus wanted to sign him as well as Bridcutt. Buckley and Ulloa make an awesome pairing. I hope that Lingard can get it together as he was a little off the pace today.

It was on-line albeit without sound and we played well although at times gave the ball away, the first goal was a peach and seemed to knock the stuffing out of Bolton, some of there players looked as though they didn't want to be there. A great result and the only way now is up. Leo looked absolutely knackered toward the end, I think if we can get Will Hoskins and CMS back it would take some of the pressure off Leo as he does run himself into the ground for the team.
Next goal to win that game in hand.

It makes Freedman's comments that he knew how to breach our defence look even sillier than they did at the time.

Good to see reports from people who could see it (I could not get a stream out here) saying how well Dunk played. So luck to have three such good centre backs.

And as for Will, well, we all now how devestating a player he can be. Just got to stay fit!

Were you watching the same game as me Tug? Sublime? I love BHA, but the first half was quite poor from both sides. I wasn't sure who's side Ward was playing for, as he gave the ball away to the opposition so frequently. Bravo Greer, Bruno and Dunk. Terrific result though - and Buckers' finishing was awesome,

Brilliant to see that the flying genius is back to his best once more, and Dunk once again deputising able for his more experienced colleagues.

Does anyone who was there know if Dunk switched to Upson's side to accommodate Greer, or if Greer played on Upson's side?
