Who was Albion's top man at Bolton?

The Argus: Will Buckley celebrates his second (photo Simon Dack) Will Buckley celebrates his second (photo Simon Dack)

Will Buckley trebled his goals tally for the season today.

His double secured a 2-0 win at Bolton – who were also the victims of his previous strike this term.

The former Trotters trialist produced two classy finishes at the Reebok.

But was he Albion’s top man in this latest away win?

Or do you look to the central defensive pairing of Gordon Greer and Lewis Dunk as the men who underpinned the victory effort?

Tomasz Kuszczak made at least one fine first-half save.

And Dale Stephens- shooting apart – was effective back in the starting XI and back at the club he supported as a kid in Bolton.

There are others. Bruno played with a swagger, Jake Forster-Caskey was busy and effective in midfield and Jesse Lingard buzzed.

But we have picked five – from which we ask you to select just one.

So who was top man at Bolton?

Dunk for me, closely followed by Buckley. Only going by listening to the game, but Dunk has been thrown in at the deep end last couple of games and played with a different partner each time but has come through it with flying colours imo. Buckley producing what we know he is capable off, LuaLua is the next one to bang a couple in! Can't believe he hasn't scored all season!
Team is on a high and we need to keep it up while others falter around us, beat Ipswich and it's any 4 from 6 for the playoffs. Imo we need to be safe in the playoffs before we play Forest in the last game. A few more goals wouldn't go amiss and with players to return (Hoskins and Cms) a few more goals and a strong finish is on the cards.
Funny how a couple of wins changes our thinking but we must be careful and keep our feet on the ground, Oscar is the man for the job, one game at a time and the table only matters come end of season. UTA

How can you vote you was not even at the game yet again.Just with the other 17 yet again posting your pure rubbish on this site for the full 90mins.Try going to a game for once and then maybe you can say who you think MOTM was.It really does help if your really at the game.
Are you genuinely thick or are you being coached? I was asking how the vote was going BECAUSE I CAN'T SEE IT UNLESS I VOTE, something I don't want to do as I didn't see the game.

I didn't go to the game, but I watched all of it online, am I allowed to vote? Lol.

From watching the last few games, it seems we are growing in confidence and hitting form at just the right time. Fingers crossed, maybe we will get that day out at Wembley. Still not that bothered about getting to the prem - I have a horrible feeling that we would have to pay Chelsea or Arsenal level prices to watch at the Amex, and a lot of fans who have attended regularly over the years will not be able to afford to come, which would be a travesty.

I thought the game was pretty even up until Bolton had the goal disallowed.
Shortly after, Buckley scored the 2nd and from then on we controlled the game.
MOM between Dunk & Buckley. Bruno also on top of his game today.

o,Stephens, and Tk would be a million miles ahead of your Mr,Dunk today.Try really watching a game before you post.It helps
Ringpiece, dunk to blame, freeloaders, and now tears 4 fears, you really are a piece of low life scum! Go and have a w*** because that's all your capable of lol hahaha. ****
Dunk could score a hatrick and you would still slag him off, and like I said at the beginning of my post, only going by LISTENING today.
You think you are so brave on this site you sad little man.Like i pointed out try really going to a game b4 you post then.
So how do you know who goes to a game and even if someone doesn't they are still entitled to express an opinion. That is what comes from living in a free democratic society. I strongly suspect that you never go to a game as all you do is spout bile, not an opinion. If you do go to a game perhaps you might like to reveal where you sit.

I had tickets for the game, unfortunately i was called in to work 2 hours before kick off. I'd like to pass judgement on my MOM but unfortunately i cannot. However, i dont think that not being at the game makes me less of a supporter.
We achieved an away win today ( and i use the term 'we' very losely) and in my opinion a very good away win, so praise to all the team.
For some of us, getting to the game is difficult at times, if not downright impossible, so, IMO, never chastise a person for not being at the game, appreciate the fact that they wanted to be there!
Supporting the Albion is not a choice, it's not a question of where you live, it's not a question of how many games you attend, its in the blood!

Dear oh dear, can we get the children off this site and actually hear from someone who actually watched the game.
I didn't see it, so cant comment on MoM but it must have been a great team effort to secure a win and I am absolutely delighted WB is back amongst the goals. The best bit of news for ages !!
Also full credit to Dunk, who again stepped in to a most vital position in our defence and helped keep us safe and secure.
Fantastic result......... My weekend will be so happy .

Now please leave the postings to those who actually saw the game !!

Cheers albionfan33... looks like the majority disagree with Freeloaders and reckon Dunk was better than most.
dunk is looking like his old self im glad its near the end of the season as he deserves to be staring (which he will next season) it was a fantastic alround desplay from kus to ulloa
All Dunk ever needed was a couple of games in the front team to get back to his best. We all know he is classy and will be a great player in the future.

The Dunk lovein site ha.There was 10 other players on that pitch you nice boy.Sorry to be the one to tell you but your wonderful Mr,Dunk is straight.Bet thats upset you lol haha.Be honest are you in love with the boy??? it will never work his straight.
What have you actually got against Dunk, he was part of a team today that kept a clean sheet whilst scoring 2 goals away from home, I may be thick, but i'm struggling to understand the downside of that?
He was on upsons side, make no mistake Bolton were a good side today, they had there chances, we were solid we needed that second goal, they had one disallowed so that could off changed the game if it was given, great support today.

Could you see from your position if it should've been disallowed? You always need a bit of luck in an away game and that may well have been Brighton's.

So... are you saying that even YOU shouldn't be allowed to post? Surely anyone should post but only those who watched it should vote?
Good, you understand. Not too difficult when you engage a brain is it ?

If the thread is asking people's views on who was our top player, it stands to reason only someone who watched the game is in a position to cast an opinion.
I am interested in hearing the views of those who were there, so why do I have to put up with reams of childish bickering from " fans" who didn't even see the game.
Let those who watched the game post their comments.
And yes, I shouldn't post on this thread as I cant have an opinion if I didn't see the game.
Why cant others follow suit ?

You're hilarious Tears. I think we have established that you don't actually go to games which is not a problem. Just so long as you don't slag off others for not going!

I don't go to games regularly either, although I was at the Burnley game where we played them off the park, now look at them.

I could also be called sad but living in a 3 bed, 2 bathroom apartment overlooking the Med that must be a matter of opinion.

Now you are hoping this is a gay pick up site now! I can understand why you are desperate!

Having only attended the Cup win at Port Vale and Tuesday's home win against QPR, I am not really qualified to pontificate of MOMs. However, I would like to 'big up' The Argus' for providing this site which is regular required reading for this Albion supporter of sixty years.
Each morning on waking, I reach for my phone like millions of others and I look at Sky News and Argus Albion News, BEFORE Facebook. That's gotta say something good about this site.
Looking back over the decades, I think it's the type of soccer that stays in the memory. I like my team to have players that excite you the minute they get the ball and eye goal such at Kit Napier, Charlie Livesey and Bobby Smith. Then there are those equally fondly remembered for their ineptness. You knew the minute they got the ball something would go wrong, but they were interesting. George Waites, Johnny Goodchild and Peter Donnelly come to mind.
In conclusion I hope that Albion going forward play with interest. As much as clean sheets are useful, I still prefer results such as Brighton 6-4 Mansfield.
Oh by the way, Chicksen was accomplished at Port Vale and Bruno showed some impressive form down the wing against Harry's boys. Ince won the ball, shimmed gracefully a couple of times and it felt right for the sizeable, strong young man to have a belt from straight in front of goal...but he chose to pass. When he becomes more confident I can see him as another Patrick Viera.

The memorable George Waites. One of our slower wingers. I recall him dribbling past several players and then falling flat on his face in the mud.

I'm sorry Ken, but I wasn't aware banter involved calling every person who disagreed with you 'sad'. But because I wasn't aware of that does not make me correct in my assumption.
Whilst I appreciate people's opinions differ, I hope I would never seek to demean them if they made their opinions public.
I am all for banter, to the point that it is a large part of what governs my day, unfortunately, In my opinion, tonight's thread ceased to be banter for the large part, very early on.
As for the Guardian, far too many spelling mistakes for my liking!

It is only one person that calls everyone sad, although he does appear under many names. He has killed many blogs on here but tonight I couldn't help myself and baited him. Starlion asked him what the half time entertainment was because he pretends to attend games. I found this so funny I kept calling him out. Of course, he wouldn't reply. Normally I don't bother but I have had a great day, what with the rugby and Brightons result. Also I may have had a drink too many. Anyway, I couldn't resist baiting him. I won't do it in future. It was far too easy.
@brightonup. Hope that explains things from my point of view.

Three good points gained today what with Bolton having been on a good run of late. I suppose having Ulloa, Lingard and Buckley on the park at the same time requires defenses to cover all three of them rather than just Ulloa, which has been the case more times than we would prefer. With three threats on the park that has to be good, even if only one of them scores.
Making the playoffs is still a possibility, nothing is for certain but we are in the mix. Ipswich up next and our recent results must have given our players a boost, and also sent a warning to Ipswich.

Outstanding post from a real fan.Not the Ex-pat troll that took this site from 350 fans.
Troll (noun): A person who makes a deliberately offensive or provocative online posting.
Sociopath (noun): A person with a personality disorder manifesting itself in extreme antisocial attitudes and behaviour.

In a Venn diagram (look it up) of these two there is a large intersection. You are probably in the middle.

I just read an article that suggests that Joe Cole is heading to Brighton come the summer once his contract runs out. I am not sure if the article is reporting a fact, or If Cole is putting himself up for the move should Brighton want him.
He could come over here and make big money but apparently he doesn't want to move him family. He is on 90K a week, and if h does come will accept a massive pay cut.
It will be interesting to see if this article has any legs.

Try North Stand Chat. It has many more trolls but they are massively outnumbered by genuine fans. I think it's also possible to block individual people so you never see their mad witterings.

PS: You have a cracking username :-)
You already did that on NSC chat Mr,Dunk thats why is numbers went so down hill.Did you just see your super boy on his a-- again when their goal went in lol.He got lucky yet again the prem-league would rip it apart.Thank god the club staff really do see this.Back to the same 25 posts of pure rubbish everyday then? But you was ex-non league watching Shrewsbury and Jake Robinson only about a year ago. lol hahaha.
Dunk was on his backside when they scored - when who scored? If you truly were at the game you'd have been aware that the Albion kept yet another clean sheet.

I'm not entirely sure WTF Shrewsbury have got to do with anything - I've only ever been there once, the last game of the league two winning season at the Gay Meadow and we got beaten 3-0. I believe joe Hart may have been in goal for the home team, but I was a little tipsy. I saw Jake Robinson play lots for the Albion though.

Another random non sequitur (look it up).

Brighton will only pick its players for next season when the club is sure which league its in you sad little man.You really think the club puts its hand on the table now over players lol. The club has been looking at 4 CB if we go up this season. They would only ever get 2 of them tops.

Yes George Waites - arguably the worst player ever to don an Albion shirt ( an Orient cast-off I believe). Having said that, a player called David Cameron was taken off by Micky Adams after about 15 minutes of his debut, and was publicly described as useless by Bob Booker. He never played another game. I can't recall whether anyone called Tony Blair ever played for the Albion, although I'm sure he would have been even more unpopular!!

I still fondly recall John Crumplin nicknamed - Football Genius - who was as enthusiastic as Ashley Barnes - but rather more limited to put it kindly.

Remember Pat Saward - he performed wonders in getting us promoted from the old Div 3 - and then signed Lammie Robertson - probably the worst signing he ever made - and Brighton were soon relegated back to Div 3.

Then of course there was the famous (I am being sarcastic here) Richard Tiltman from Worthing, undoubtedly Barry Lloyd's worst ever signing, who took over the shirt from Dean Saunders who was sold to Oxford for £60k who soon sold him to Villa for £1m who then sold him to Liverpool for £3m. I don't recall Tiltman ever scoring a goal.

When he becomes more confident I can see him as another Patrick Viera.
you should come on here more often nice to hear someone talk football sense, you dont need to be at the game to give a opinion but it would be good if everyone who comes on here actually talked about the albion rather than slag some off,

If you want to meet up with a true supporter in the north stand name the time and place if you dare! I would love 2 DUNK a FREELOAD up your RINGPIECE and bring TEARS to your eyes but FEAR you don't have the bottle to turn up, sitting with journalists is about your level, living off other peoples talent, you truly are a sad case, lol hahahah.
Wow you sound so brave from behind your PC.What a small bunch of very sad little children.Play with Ex-pat and his many names.
Why is everything sad and little to you? It's the only insult you use and just shows your lack of vocabulary and intelligence. I'm guessing that this is a 13-year-old posting on this sight, trying to act 42, trying to be the centre of attention to get his pathetic ideas across. Would be rather ironic if you didn't go to the game yesterday wouldn't it?

2 ideas to improve the site.

1 The use of real names
This may just stop the abusive trolls

2 Insist on a reasonable understanding of the English language.
Yes and correct spelling and punctuation! Some of the posters on this site have a very poor grasp of their own language.
