Captain Josh Simpson hailed Crawley’s 2-1 win over League One leaders Wolves as one of the best results in the club’s history.

Goals from Billy Clarke and Matt Tubbs sealed a famous win in front of a record league crowd at the Checkatrade.com Stadium of 5,680 after James Henry had opened the scoring for Wolves.

Simpson said: “It is definitely one of the best wins we’ve had at home while I’ve been here. We’ve beaten the likes of Derby and Bristol City (in the FA Cup) but this probably tops it because Wolves are a massive club and in my opinion will go on to win the league this season.

“I don’t think they looked like league leaders but that was more down to the way we played than anything else. It’s a massive result for us and just shows how far we have come under the gaffer (John Gregory) since he’s been here.

“I think we have put ourselves in the mix again and if we can win a couple more games we will be right up there (challenging for the play-offs). People have forgotten about us a little bit but we are slowly sneaking up the table.”
