Jesse Lingard has pledged his best is yet to come for Albion.

The Manchester United prospect is not fretting about his goal shortage since joining the Seagulls.

Lingard is six games into his spell on loan from Old Trafford.

The versatile striker has at least nine matches left to help Oscar Garcia’s side into the play-offs.

He told The Argus: “I think I’m picking up every game. I thought I did well the other day against Ipswich.

“I just want to be a threat, try to create chances, get shots off, try and score goals and be effective in the game.”

Lingard, an immediate goal hit on loan to Birmingham earlier in the season, has yet to score for Albion.

He played as an emergency centre-forward in Tuesday’s second defeat in succession at Sheffield Wednesday but is likely to switch back out to the left for Middlesbrough’s visit on Saturday if Leo Ulloa recovers from the illness which ruled him out at Hillsborough.

Lingard said: “I settled in more at Birmingham because I scored four goals straight away but this is more a Premier League club with a Premier League stadium which I’ve got to get used to.

“I like the 4-3-3 system. I’m used to that anyway. I like coming off the left and creating from there. The lads have welcomed me in very well and I’ve settled in nicely now.

“We’ve just got to react now on Saturday, play our normal game and hopefully the goals will come.”
