Orlandi and Hoskins join Albion's sick list

The Argus: Andrea Orlandi Andrea Orlandi

Andrea Orlandi and Will Hoskins' hopes of helping Albion during the run-in have suffered a fresh setback.

They have become the latest victims of the virus which has bugged the Albion camp.

Orlandi has still not fully recovered from a thigh injury which has ruled the Spaniard out of midfield contention for the last five matches.

The comeback plans of striker Hoskins after more than a year out with serious knee damage have been held up slightly by a minor calf injury.

The Seagulls should have Leo Ulloa, Dale Stephens and Inigo Calderon all back from the virus for Middlesbrough's visit tomorrow.

The trio missed Tuesday's 1-0 defeat at Sheffield Wednesday.

Matt Upson was an earlier victim of the bug which has also affected members of staff.

Orlandi and Hoskins have been out most of the season so comes as no real suprise that that they will be missing tomorrow, feel we miss Orlandi more as he adds the premiership quality to our team, with regards to Hoskins and CMS you have to wonder if they will ever comeback to what they were, if they can will be a huge asset next season. Good luck to both.

With regards to the Ulloa situation, to me he is the best player in our team and in the top 3 strikers in the league, we have to build the team around him, we have to make sure that we provide Ulloa with the correct ammunition which is why its a mystery to me that we very rarely (maybe never) start with Lua Lua and Buckley, Ulloa is scoring goals in a team which provides very little creativity, so imagine what he would do with a few more chances, Ulloa and Ince will hopefully be in the spine of our team for many seasons to come as they are both outstanding players.

If we dont go up this season, then lets hope we can get Orlandi and CMS 100% for the start of next season as will be like signing 2 new players, add Ince, Ulloa, Buckley, Tomas, Upson, then the spine of our team looks very strong. Add in a few decent strong, championship, premiership players if possible and we are in such a good position to get promoted, I am concerned in the quality we have bought in this season and I hope Oscar has learnt a couple of lessons, I certainly believe he is the right man to lead us

I'll be glad to get this season over with; it's been an endless succession of injuries and now illnesses, and hence a lack of consistency which has caused us to drop too many points.

It's been the most frustrating season I can remember - and, yes, I am very aware that it is obviously incredibly frustrating for the affected players themselves, especially CMS.

For those who think that we should have done what a few other clubs have done, increase our debt but go all ou for promotion, take a look at Leeds.
It is reported that the board have been trawling the financial streets looking for new money from new investers, and that is just to meet this month's wage bill, if they fail it appears the players won't get their cheques this month.

I don't think that Hoskins or CMS will play for the albion again. Innumerable times I've seen players like this over many years. They are out for a very long time - they make endless 'come backs' only to break down - or acquire fresh injuries. I hope I'm wrong - but I think they are both history.

Doesn't cms' contract run out this summer? Hoskins' definitely does.

Will they sign new ones? I wonder if we have options to re-sign. Actually I think we do have a one year option on Hosk not sure about cms.

I heard a whisper of a rumour from a friend of a friend that CMS is now working with a physio from outside of the club. Some aspersions have been cast about the in house team and their pushing too hard, too early, being the reason for his extended absence.

Good post. You are spot on with Orlandi, Lualua though is an impact player and seldom plays that well if he starts.

I wish you were right about the spine of the team. I think TK will move on as we won't get promoted, Buckley and Ulloa are at risk of leaving. So many players out of contract and I am not convinced about the strategy of delaying contract talks until the season concludes.

As long as Nathan Jones has no influence on signings I think we should be ok though!
