Rodriguez recalled and JFC starts

The Argus: David Rodriguez David Rodriguez

Albion have given David Rodriguez another midweek chance to shine – this time alongside Leo Ulloa.

The former Celta man comes into the side to face Blackburn tonight as one of two changes.

The other sees Jake Forster-Caskey take over from David Lopez in midfield.

Rodriguez replaces Will Buckley, who suffered a hamstring problem against Middlesbrough on Saturday.

Rodriguez started in attack at Sheffield Wednesday last week, in the absence of the unwell Ulloa, and hit the bar.

This time the two former Almeria men will be in the same side, as they were in home wins over Doncaster and Leeds two months ago.

Dale Stephens comes back into the 18 among the subs.

Albion: Kuszczak, Bruno, Greer, Upson, Ward; Andrews, Forster-Caskey, Ince; Lingard, Rodriguez, Ulloa. Subs: Brezovan, Calderon, Dunk, March, LuaLua, David Lopez, Stephens.

What confuses me is that the latest 2 players we have actually bought for any significant amount of money are Agustien and Stephens, yet neither of them appear to be anywhere near to being in Garcia's first choice starting eleven. In these days of FFP constraints it seems very strange to spend significant money on players and then not use them regularly. Either very strange team selections or bad buys. It's got to be one or the other and I know which one I think it is.

Well said. Quite why Stephens is out of favour is beyond me.

Yes, just don't click on any of the large X look for small x.
Trouble is last time only one channel was supposed to show game midweek
they let us down.

The width can be provided by Bruno and Ward, with Rodriguez and Lingard tucking in and supporting Ulloa. Seems a decent line-up for an away game.

Proof, pudding, etc.

I despair,no wingers and JFC and KA included, what was the point of signing Stephens. I am afraid OG is losing all support in his negative selections and failure to change a losing system.

Solid looking side but still unsure as to current position regarding Stephens - got rave reviews in the last game he played at Bolton and hasn't been seen since (although has been ill for part of the time). At the end of the day it is about players taking responsibility and scoring the goals we are so lacking.

Spot on Graham jfk looks out of his depth, Stephens has to start, weird things going on at the moment.

Stephens seemed to be getting more settled before his illness, better than Andrews any day

The point is still valid, Alfie. A 'defensive minded' team would have looked to sit back and soak up pressure, the exact opposite of what happened. Okay, it's gone t!ts up since then, but that wasn't the point I was making.

I am sure (and this isn't aimed at you, by the way) that there are several people on here genuinely wanting a defeat just so they can moan a bit more.

No beef with you Arnie, I'm not watching the game, so you would know better than me. Still amazed by the lightweight JFC getting in ahead of Stephens.
