Nathan Jones hailed Albion’s character as they grabbed a late point at Blackburn tonight.

The Seagulls came from behind twice in the last 20 minutes to secure a 3-3 draw.

Dale Stephens headed their 88th-minute point-saver after David Rodriguez and ex-Rovers defender Gordon Greer had earlier scored.

Jones, the Seagulls’ assistant head coach, said: “I thought we showed a lot of character.

“We started very well. We didn’t play particularly well.

“We didn’t defend as we normally do as a Brighton team.

“But we showed a lot of character.

“To come back and get a point here, that will be a big point – I guarantee it.

“It has been a tough couple of weeks and I felt we haven’t had what we deserved.

“Performances have been excellent. We have watched them back and analysed them.

“We have lacked a bit of clinical touch and given away silly little things every now and again.

“But tonight they showed fantastic character and came back and that is why we believe in these players.”

Jones was unhappy with the penalty decision which allowed Jordan Rhodes to put Blackburn 3-2 up.

But he added: “We have kept Blackburn at arm’s reach with this result and we have come away with something.”
