Albion keeper Tomasz Kuszczak wants to point his career back to the Premier League

First published in Sport by , Chief sports reporter

Albion No. 1 Tomasz Kuszczak has revealed his agent is in talks with several clubs about a return to the Premier League.

The Polish and former Manchester United goalkeeper is one of 11 first team squad members out of contract at the end of the season.

Kuszczak, quoted on the onet.sport website, said: "I know I can play in the league above. Some conversations have taken place. My agent is negotiating with several clubs, but for now I can not talk about specifics."

Kuszczak, who signed a two-year deal with the Seagulls, told The Argus in September that he was keen to open new contract talks.

He said: "I am fully open and if the club decided to talk to me about a new contract I am most happy to do that."

Whichever league we play in next season we need to get this sorted - and fast. TK is one of the main reasons we are still in with a shout this year. It's hard to imagine Brez making the step up to cover with such regularity of form.

Time to act, before it's too late!!

Well the Albion are "damned if they do and damned if they don't!" TK and his agent have piled on the pressure. If the Albion offer him a new contract, which I think they should,TK will not sign it anyway as his ambition is back to the PL and the Albion cannot guarantee this right now! If they wait until the season ends it may be too late.Surely the Albion have nothing to lose by offering him a deal right now and see what happens because silence from the Albion may indicate that they are not willing to retain him?

Cant say much except enough to cause some unrest and get a deal before the others. I hate this stuff at a vital time of the season. Yes we need a good goale but the players shpuld not be calling the shots. This sounds more like a threat to push the price up or get a contract early.
Brighton need to offer contracts to those we would keep if we go up or not. Walton looks ok so give him a go for the rest of the season if we lose on Saturday. I hate it when these headlines happen.

This is not a surprise and it won't be a disaster should he go, his desire too get back to prem level has been know for sometime now.
His loss would be big, but losing any gem is hard to take, but others are out there to fill his place. With his known ambitions to get back to the prem even if a new contract was offered to him today, I doubt that he would instantly sign.

Kuszczak has previously made it very clear he wants a return to the Premier League after his initial two year contract, albeit preferably with Albion. Hence he has not wanted contract talks until this season ends. This one is outside of Brighton's control and if there's no sign of promotion here and genuine PL interest he will be gone. No doubt about it.

There wouldn't be any question about this if we were definitely going up ......... no wait, there would be. I bet that another PL club who wanted him might well be willing to pay more for his services. But as discussed elsewhere the question he might have to ask would be whether he was willing to be second string again. In a current and non-relegated PL club would he make a regular 1st team keeper or just polish (sic) the bench most of the time?

We have been here before, players wanting to move up at a time when we wanted to keep them. All the time that you have good players both the players, and other clubs, will be on the alert. We went thru this with Bridcutt, now it's TK and tomorrow it might be Ulloa, get used t it people, it's part of the price a successful club has to pay.
I think TK is tops but that said, our back four, and others, have contributed as much to our clean sheets as TK has. People will talk of a blinding save but maybe not remember a perfectly timed block or tackle made by one of the other lads or a clearance header made by Ulloa.

I suspect that Albion will not offer new deals to the most highly paid players, as they will strive to make sure that we comply with FFP. As i have said previously our focus is on signing young talent and developing them . Takes longer than signing the finished article but is clearly the basis of our long term business model. Could well mean the end of the road for Upson, TK, Bruno. Really noy convinced by stories in the press about us signing Cole, Lampard and Zamora - even at knock down wages they will still be too expensive for us.

Albion going backwards this season so understandable. We're still in a good position relative to our last 10 years, but not looking like a Premier League side. He's given the Board the benefit of the doubt but probably will now move on. Might as well stick to the other two GKs.

I don't see too many first team options for him in the Prem, unless it is Burnley or another promoted club. If we get up this season then I would expect him to stay, wouldn't be too surprised if he stayed here in the Championship for another season. There are a lot of very good keepers not getting a game in the Prem and one or two here in the Championship.
It would make sense for us to keep PIG and ask Walton to step up, let Brez and Ankergren go, as long as PIG can see a good possibility of promotion I think he will stay.
We would then be looking to bring in a keeper for the dev squad, and this is the level where we have an edge over many other clubs for next season.

A fine keeper who will be sadly missed. Bez and Ank are not up to scratch, especially with young Walton making his case with the DV squad. Looks like the keeper situation will a require a couple of shrewd signs - along with right back , centre-back, left back - is Ward staying?, I hope so but who knows?- mid-field and of course up front. Leo can't be left to struggle again next season.

I am not sure why we, 'should,' look like a Premier League side. This is just our third season since getting promoted from Div 1, and it's not over yet.
We have not over spent and will comply with the FFP rules, and we still have a chance of the palyoffs. Brighton will never look like a Premier League side until we are one, but we will look like a club looking to become one but that will cost money. With the new Nike deal and the naming rights to our new facility having been sold, some of that needed money might now be available for next year.

Timing is poor on this, agreed TK should have been offered an extended deal or talks should have been started by now,it seems we are going to have the same situation as the end of last season, players and supporters not knowing who is coming and going. It has been noted recently that TK performances have tailed off and I suspect this coincides with PL club talk,he needs to focus on Brighton for now.
Neither Brezovan nor Ankergren should be kept on in my opinion both weak links, under 17 keeper should be promoted to the bench but we really need a good quality keeper.
Lots of supporters expecting concerted push for promotion next season but I don't believe that will happen. Regardless of what league we are in a massive clear out on the cards, many players loans end and some contracts as well.
I expect TK,LU and WB to go,the club are obsessed with FFP,regretably to the detriment of the playing squad and we won't realistically see new blood from the academy for a season or two.
Zamora is on 90k per week so don't see that happening,Cole and Lampard considerably more.
Assuming we don't go up I think next season will define where the clubs ambitions lie, cut the cloth to bare and a large majority of fans will re-evaluate their season ticket renewals, hope I am wrong but in the current climate cannot see major investment in quality players.
Talking of quality players the news on Augustien is deafening, who ever approved that deal should have no say in future transfer activity.

It's very difficult for the club to offer new contracts when they have no idea what Division they will be playing in next season. If we were in Leicester's position we could offer improved contracts to all those players we wished to keep because the club would be assured of a financial windfall.
But, sadly we are not so cant offer anyone greatly improved contracts.
If TK is offered more by a Prem Club then I'm sure he'll be off. He's been good, but is not irreplaceable. It may also open the door for Walton. He is after all an England International.
For me it's more important to secure the young talent like Ince and March. They are our future, not TK I'm afraid.
It was inevitable our current league position would create this type of problem and the club simply cant offer prem level contracts when there's a possibility (probability) we'll still be in Championship.

The trouble is we don't want to fall foul of FFP.

Also Chris Powell used to be Nigel Pearson's assistant. Anyone think that Chris Powell might be a better assistant to Oscar than NJ?
After all, an assistant should be able to step up but can any of us really imagine NJ as head coach at the Albion. UTA

TK states that his agent is talking to one or more prem clubs, now place those talks on the table along side any talks that we could engauge in with TK.

The prem club offers prem football, we will probably offer Champ Div footbal.
The prem club offers prem level wages, we offer Champ Div wages.
As a free agent TK gets a prem level golden hello payment, we offer a Champ Div resigning payment.
A prem club, under the FFP rules, is allowed to operate at a 38 million loss, our permitted loss level HAS to be cut this year.

If a prem club wants TK, and if TK wants prem level soccer, we can't compete. His decision to go or stay is firmly in his hands and has been ever since he entered into the last year of his contract with us, he knew that just as the club did. Of course many will say that we should have given him a new deal ealier but we tried that with Barnes, he knew that Burnley had been in for him but failed, it was no surprise that they came back, hence he left our offer on the table.

Hi Vegas,
TK and AB situations entirely different. AB was only offered one year extension and he wanted longer for the security of his family, which is understandable, same as El Abd.
With AB it was not so much re money as long term security,in fact his wage at Burnley probably similar but obviously with PL will jump dramatically, good luck to him.
TK will go no doubt about that, and the call re Speroni I think is a good one. Also liked the look of Ipswich keeper.
You mention FFP again and how PL can justify such different equations show how much FA is in the pocket of the big premiership clubs.
I see Sunderland have escaped a points penalty for fielding an unregistered player for 5 matches, fined but of course any penalty points would mean almost certain relegation and the FA are toothless,I don't hold out much hope of FFP being vigorously enforced amongst the big players or promoted teams.

Neville I wasn't so much trying to compare the Barnes deal to the TK deal, my point was more about players making choices based on what, 'they,' want or think is better for them either in terms of ambitions or financial security.

Barnes, as you correctly state probably wanted a longer term deal, security, TK, well he wants prem soccer, ambitions. Brighton as a club today, can only offer so much and the players, for what ever reasons, have to decide.

No one player will ever be bigger than the club, important yes, bigger no.

We should just feel privileged we've had him at our club for a couple of years. A superb keeper who is certainly good enough for the Premier League. if a club in that division can offer him a higher standard of football with a better wage, we won't can't stand in his way.

Also as he still harbours ambitions to play international football playing in the Championship is not doing him any favours.

Would we have had a better couple of seasons if we had had a lesser keeper than TK, one that others didn't want to sign, or if we didn't have Bridcutt or Noone, both of whom ended up in the prem.
We should celebrate the fact that some of our players are seen in such a good light by others and that more will follow. How long before Ince and March start to attract admiring eyes, perhaps two more seasons, maybe even just one.

I truly want us to sign, and or develope, new young and exciting players but as each one shows his worth the scouts will start pitching their tents outside the Amex. Reaching the prem is the only way we will have of keeping our best and our, 'best,' are not as yet known as we don't have the squad, IMHO, that will take us to the top. I know that some of you would like to see me hung drawn and quartered for even suggesting that we won't get thru the playoffs, and with luck I will be wrong, but it's just the way I see it.

Hi Vegas ,i have no wish to see you hung drawn and quartered ,but when we got to the POs in 2004 ,we were outplayed in both legs against Swindon ,and only scraped a late penalty against Bristol City ,scored by the worst role model ever to play for The Albion ,nuff said . But get through we did ,i know our squad is not Prem quality at the moment ,but if we made the step up ,i can see us doing at least as well as croydon fc ,given what we already have ,plus the massive monies from gaining promotion ,in fact i see us as a very attractive prospect to all but the cream ,but only for now !. Tug yes we have a couple that would hold their own in the prem, and yes we would get big money for getting there but, is that enough to stay there.
Leicester have a strong squad but they too will have to bring in some serious quality but not as much as we would.

I would hate the idea of us spending all that we would get just to try and survive the first year. When we go up we need to go there with more than just a couple of prem level players, this would allow us to spend less in the first year but more than we might have in the second. Survive the first year and build a little more in the second and following years. Two transfer windows in our first year, we must have some funds held back for the second window.

Tug go thru our squad and pick out the players that would be truly capable at the top level if it comes this year, and when doing so, consider those that have sustained injury issues. I don't think you will have a long list.

Some of the players like Dunk and JFC are young and continue to improve under management. The injuries are no ones fault.
Nothing to lose if we dont win Saturday an I personally would play all the younsters and get them used to each other.
So if we lose Saturday then team for me

see how they go. Dont think Ulloa will go and we have to play Lindgarde
Pure dream world stuff. There are players Dunks age,and JFK age playing outstanding in the prem-league week in & week out. They can't even play outstanding in the championship, and before you say it that was not Hulls first team ok.Also if Hulls staff thought he looked such a good player they would have made a bid for him by now lol.
Whoops, there I go again, spouting bull manure. I acknowledge the fact that there are younger players playing good football in the prem but I truly believe that messrs Dunk, JFC, Ince etc can make the step up in class, especially Dunk who in my opinion is the most improved player this season.

You claim to know your football ,if you did ,you would know that you are 75% wrong with that statement , Will Hoskins has gone through hell with his injuries ,unless those ops were for fun ,he cant wait to play ,same with Andrea Orlandi ,a proven professional who share`s WH bad luck ,Will Buckley has tight hamstrings ,i was told years ago that i had short hamstrings ,and have always had trouble stretching ,if this is the case for a pro footballer with the quality he has ,he must be gutted ,but as for Kemy Agustien ,you may well be right !.
Ah, but Bosch believes that Hoskins ruptured himself deliberately to earn another contract and that Poyet congratulated him as he went past on a stretcher.

If only we could afford the likes of Dunky, Incey and Foster Caskey, we wouldn't be staring relegation in the face. Also, you can tell when my medication is wearing off as I RESORT TO WRITING IN CAPITALS.

Of course one of the reasons that no-one is looking to buy JFK is because he got the back of his head blown off in Dallas in 1961. Great in in the tackle but useless at corners now.

Vegas i think we might be very surprised at the quality of players that would be available to us ,should we get promoted this year ,we have something like 11 players out of contract ,waiting to be either given new ones or join a new club for free ,it works both ways we would have a lot of players in the same boat to choose from ,no guarantees of course ,but we have the stadium ,training ground fanbase and infrastructure of a decent Prem club ,we would also be in the position to compete with wages for the first time in a while ,not with the top half ,but certainly enough to sustain our place in the league imho . Wonder if TK would stay if we do sneak into the play offs and go up this season? Otherwise, we need to do a bit of shopping around in the summer, there are some good keepers around the divisions including the prem who might fit the bill. Maybe an older experienced keeper, like Schwarzer or Friedel? If someone like that is out of contract this season then worth offering them a contract here, they could definitely cut it in the championship, they still are in the premier league after all!

if we are going to move forward get a top class Manager in and he will attract players .
Oscar is not the option for next year lot of players will leave if he stays and mid table next year .
Lets be honest the play offs are slim with other clubs playing better football and will beat us comfortably .
In what i have seen 4 4 2 is the best formation but oscar has no plan b , c its embarrasing .
Also if we do go up which i very much doubt with this team we would never win a game.

When we got promoted there was talk of the, 'five year plan,' and one presumes what they meant by that was promotion to the top flight. I guess we can also assume that the new facilty was also included in the plan. I would like to think that the probability of selling the naming rights to the facility was also in the pipe line along with setting up a new shirt deal. I doubt that the last two items were known at the time of our promotion, but I feel sure that negotiations have been ongoing for some time. We know that the club has other plans, hotel, parking facility and the student accomodation block, three things for the near future that would tie in nicely with promotion and, we are going to be FFP compliant.

Taking all of the above as a package, it seems to me that a serious run for promotion, and by 'serious,' I mean buying the quality needed, should occur 2015-16 season.

If planning permission is given for the three new structures they would all be built come the summer of 2015-16. The new facility will have been open for a couple of years and our losses under the FFP could be at zero. All this would be bang on target regarding the five year plan.

We have young lads coming thru right now and we will have two more seasons to bring others on. To me it all makes perfect sense. I think the club will ensure that we always have a squad that can challenge for a top six place, give the fans something to cheer about and good enough to keeps bums on seats, but if that challenge peters out, as it might this year, well the five year plan is still on track.

I for one am not worried about the likes of Bridcutt, TK, Greer, Bruno leaving, I am more interested in how players such as Ince, March, Hoskins, Walton, Stephens and others progress, players such as these are going to be the ones that get us promoted, along with a whole bunch of new names that we haven't signed yet. Exciting times ahead.

Let TK go and play either Brez or Ankers! Silly paying wages for players you can't offload so play em till their contracts are up. They may not be up to it but the club will save 3/4 m on TK's wages and be within FFPR. Don't worry about promo, the budget is more important and promo will eventually come one day. Get rid of all the high earners and play the kids on cheaper wages. Won't do much for a couple of years but the impact will happen once the kids have a couple of seasons under their belt. You can't hurry love

Some of the players like Dunk and JFC are young and continue to improve under management. The injuries are no ones fault.
Nothing to lose if we dont win Saturday an I personally would play all the younsters and get them used to each other.

What in 2 games lol hahah. Please tell me why does OG not play him then??? IF WHAT YOU ARE SAYING IS TRUE OG AND HIS STAFF ARE GOING OUT THEIR WAY NOT TO PLAY THEIR BEST PLAYERS THEN LOL. ALSO PLEASE DO TELL ME WHY CLUBS LIKE QPR WITH THEIR MILLIONS DONT MAKE A BID THEN??? OR ANY OTHER TOP CLUB WITH MILLIONS TO SPEND?

If I was the manager I would drop him against Barnsley tomorrow and be thinking " What will I have to work with next season " ? So many players out of contract at the end of this season. Kusak has made a statement he wants to go and I`d be worried what sort of players will be brought in by " the powers that be " upstairs at the club. Personally I believe next season will be very tough as we`ll have to sell and I can`t see any serious money being spent on quality players to enhance the squad. Problem is TB is not a hands-on chairman. He`s bankrolled the stadium but I can`t see him bankrolling much more. TB has a huge dilemma with his manager and fans especially. Fans feel that Oscar is not really in charge and TB is spending a lot of money putting the wrong type of people in charge ( two to be exact ). Something is wrong. It`s not about losing a few games. It`s much deeper than that.

Oh wise one pray do tell, which of our existing squad should stay and which should go.
One done, please offer your wisdom as to who we should sign for next season.

With your vast array of contacts and friends within the game, and of course your own educated opinion, you must have thoughts on these questions.

So please do share, lets us see how 100 right you will be come the end of this season.
Still waiting on he that knows all to enlighten us poor fools.
We can just take it as read that he's 100% right yet again and that the rest of us are brain dead mugs with only half a brain that aren't proper fans with our own brains and are just pure vile freeloading rubbish.
Lol Really the only thing you have in your life is this site you sad little man.Yet again you was posting all friday night again lol hahaha.Get a life man or some real friends. You maybe able to go and really watch the club then more than once a season.

Of course one of the reasons that no-one is looking to buy JFK is because he got the back of his head blown off in Dallas in 1961. Great in in the tackle but useless at corners now.
1963 actually, which meant it was him, not LB Johnson, who was on the brink of World War III in 1962

SPOT ON .
