Starting role for Stephens? Now tell us your XI to tame the Tykes

Dale Stephens struck late to halt Albion’s losing run.

So has the midfielder signed from Charlton on deadline day done enough to start at Barnsley today?

Stephens went on at half-time at Blackburn on Tuesday and headed home on 88 minutes to give his side a 3-3 draw.

So would you promote him to a starting role at Oakwell?

Rohan Ince was doubtful going into the game after taking a whack to the knee at Ewood Park.

Inigo Calderon looks the likely starter at right-back as Bruno starts a two-game ban. Or do you have other ideas?

What would you do if you were picking your side to face the Tykes?

We’d love to know.

If the aim is to eliminate recent defensive errors, then we have to think about bringing Dunk in for Greer, who has made nearly all of them.

Two very tough games in the space of 3 days ,but with respect to Barnsley ,i think this is the more winnable one ,so i would throw all our best lads on from the start and go for 3 points . Oscar imho has a very easy job today ,unlike most weeks ,he knows exactly what his opposite number has got to do ,and how he will go about it . After reading the Barnsley sites ,it`s apparent that they will come at us hammer and tongs form the first whistle ,which is what they did at Reading and Yeovil . By rights this should play out well for us ,as we dont like teams "parking the bus" ,so if Oscar puts out our most threatening attack line ,i can see an early Albion goal forcing The Tykes to play catch up for the whole game ,the way they will have to attack us ,will give us plenty of chances ,when they come forward ,so pace from the start ,and tell Jesse to stay up at corners for a quick break .
I would like to see .

Kuszczack

Calderon
Dunk
Upson
Ward

Ince (if fit) or Andrews

March
Stephens
LuaLua (from the start)

Ulloa
Lingard

And maybe a cameo goal from CMS in the last 10 mins . UTA

Calderon, Greer, Upson, Ward

Stephens, Andrews

March Lua Lua
Lingard
Ulloa

Bench:- Brezovan, Dunk, JFC, D. López, Lua Lua, Rodriguez, CMS

If Barnsley are to go at us from the start we will need more pace to counter attack, thus March and KLL have to start in my opinion. We will need more aggression and experience in the midfield, it's not a game for JFC, if Ince can't play, Stephens and Andrews can play a little deeper allowing an attacking formation with pace. Tough decision to drop Spanish Rod, but at Blackburn the ability to threaten the goal was heightened after 75 minutes with extra width. With 4 clearly attacking, it will give their defence more to do and potentially more room for Ulloa.

Not going to happen is it?!

I hope I am wrong, just a nagging feeling that Barnsley will turn us over today, " more up for it " is in the back of my mind.

I want to see Lua Lua, Ulloa, March and Lingard play with Ince and Stephens in the middle, but I doubt it.

I fear for the summer, know it will get thumbs down, but can TK, Buckley, Lua Lua, Ulloa all heading for pastures new in the summer, and with our transfer record in the last 10 months

Good Morning Uckfield Seagull ,i hope your nagging feeling is wrong ,i`m certain they will be up for it ,but Oscar must realise that this is our best chance for 3 points in these 2 games ,and if he blows the season today with poor team choice ,we have 3 home games out of the last 5 ,attendances will almost certainly suffer ,if we managed only 3 points from these 2 games ,it`s still game on . So i`m going for common sense and an Albion win !. UTA
