Mikkel Michelsen turned on the style again as Eastbourne Eagles enjoyed another home win.

The young Dane dropped just one point in the slightly flattering 52-37 success over Elite League newcomers Leicester tonight.

Eagles hosts had to overcome a tricky start.

Pre-meeting drizzle made the track tricky and fast-gating Leicester adapted best.

They led 12-11 after heat four, which saw Michelsen beaten by Peter Ljung.

The captains were called together by referee Dan Holt for a track inspection after that race.

But Eagles got to grips with proceedings as conditions improved.

They still only led 28-25 after heat nine but then pulled away to complete their misleadingly comfortable 15-point margin.

Michelsen and Bjarne Pedersen had a fabulous tussle with Lions’ top man Jason Doyle in heat 15 before completing a 5-1.

Cameron Woodward also had a terrific battle with Doyle in heat 11 before completing a 5-1 behind Joonas Kylmakorpi.

Eagles have now won two meetings out of two, both at home, ahead of tougher tests at Poole on Wednesday and at home to Belle Vue next Saturday.

Eagles: Michelsen 13+1 (5), Pedersen 11+1 (4), Blackbird 8+1 (4), Lahti (8), Kylmakorpi 7 (4), Woodward 5+4 (4), Halsey 0 (4).

Leicester: Doyle 10 (5), Ljung 8 (5), Korneliussen 5 (4), Perry 4+2 (4), Stead 4 (4), Clegg 3+1 (4), Hougaard 3 (4).
