Boss John Gregory was pleased with Crawley's fighting spirit as they suffered a narrow defeat at promotion chasing Brentford.
Reds defended stubbornly at Griffin Park but left empty handed after an error from goalkeeper Paul Jones gifted Brentford the only goal of the game.
The visitors offered nothing as an attacking threat but Gregory felt his side carried out his gameplan to stifle the Bees well.
Gregory said: "We batttled and scrapped all over the pitch. I couldn't have asked for any more effort and I thought it had 0-0 written all over it.
"That would have been a good result for us on current form to come somewhere like Brentford and keep a clean sheet but it wasn't to be.
"Everything was going according to plan until Paul made a howler which cost us dearly.
"But we're still fighting and we have got to continue playing with the same amount of effort and enthusiasm in the remaining seven games."
