Sussex wrapped up an emphatic victory against Middlesex on the final day of their opening County Championship game of the season at Hove.

Middlesex were skittled out for just 154 before lunch having started the day on 57-1 as Sussex romped to a 127-run win.

Seamers Steve Magoffin led the way with 5-56 with Jon Lewis and Jimmy Anyon shared the other wickets as Middlesex collapsed from 89-1.

There was no hint of the carnage to come when Chris Rogers and Dawid Malan extended their third wicket partnership which had stood at 48 overnight to 80.

Anyon sparked the collapse by having Rogers caught behind for 41 and followed it up by dismissing Eoin Morgan in similar fashion for two and trapping Adam Rossington for a duck as he finished with figures of 3.67.

Lewis added to his four wickets in the first innings by having Neil Dexter and Malan – who made 36 – in the slips to claim 2-21 in the innings and 6-55 for the match on his Sussex debut.

Magoffin then joined the party by dismissing John Simpson and Toby Roland-Jones in successive balls before bowling James Harris for ten. The Australian seamer finished things off just after 1pm by bowling Steven Finn to complete the 14th five-wicket haul of his career.
