Sussex will be boosted by the return of Chris Jordan as they aim for their first win at Edgbaston in 32 years.

Jordan missed Sussex’s win against Middlesex in their opening Championship game at the request of the ECB after a busy winter playing for England but has been given permission to play in the match against Warwickshire which starts on Sunday.

The 25-year-old’s availability could be offset, however, by the absence of Matt Prior. The England wicketkeeper is having treatment on his troublesome Achilles after scoring a century against Middlesex Coach Mark Robinson said: “We’d like to thank the ECB for their cooperation in allowing CJ to play. We can understand England’s point of view as they have a busy summer ahead of them and want to keep their players fresh but obviously we are keen to have our best players available.

“We’ll have to see how Matt is over the next couple of days. He nearly didn’t play against Middlesex because of his Achilles so it is something we need to be very careful with.”

Meanwhile, Robinson has confirmed that all-rounder Luke Wright is expected to be available for Sussex’s third Championship match against Sussex at Hove at the end of the month. The England international is currently in New Zealand recovering from a side strain which ruled him out of the World Twenty20.
