Oscar calls for unity at the Amex to aid promotion quest

Oscar Garcia wants players and fans pulling together against Charlton tomorrow

First published in Sport by , Chief sports reporter

Albion boss Oscar Garcia has urged players and fans to pull together at the Amex tomorrow to see off Charlton.

The Spaniard is still without key players Will Buckley and Andrea Orlandi through injury but the Seagulls could be in the top six if they win.

Oscar said: "It's always difficult playing against teams at the bottom of the table, because they are fighting for survival.

"The team and the fans have to create a great atmosphere, working together to take all three points.

"From my experience I always wanted to play in front of a full crowd in big stadiums and important games. That is what you want as a player.

"Charlton have changed their manager, they added some players in the transfer window and they are a good side getting results. It's never easy at this level to win games."

Yes please let all get behind the team even if things do not go well initially.
To help the team win the game praise the players when they do something good and stifle frustration when they make a ricket. Real supporters do not stand up and blast criticism at their own players because they know that this only makes them less likely to want the ball next time and try and play that killer pass that may not come off.
Its common sense, people respond better to praise than criticism, So if you want us to have an exciting run in do something about it, play your part!

If a tide of blue and white dashes itself against a rock like wall of red, i don't think that many will complain. And who says that Charlton will come to defend? Without inviting naivety or comic book defending, all we ask is effort and in present state of mind, some attacking intent, whatever the formation.
Mischief is to be made with rumour control being fed by selective quotes and those in 'the know'. The one way to unite everyone is to finish the season strongly. The booing during the last home game (whatever your take on it) was due to the performance which was listless and uninspired. We will accept other teams parking the bus and losing to sucker punches. We will accept getting beaten by a better team. We have learnt to be patient (although this is not so evident on this site).
Perhaps with tomorrow in mind, Bill Shankly's quote of some people believing football is more important than life or death, is a way of keeping things in perspective. It is of course much, much more important than that...

Agree with the first two posts. The fans have a vital and pivotal role to play in this and all other games this season. I began losng confidence after Boro 's visit and while in isolation the two subsequent away draws were actually good results, they added to my lack of belief in us making it.

I did however have a very strong feeling we'd beat The Foxes (and placed bets accordingly) and this result has propelled us back into the Land Of Possibility, at least. I still have my doubts but we go into the weekend with all to play for. Let's hope we end it in the same vain! My prediction: a 2-1 win.

Let us hope for I believe the first time this season that OG will and should field an unchanged team! We do not want any more "tinkering " with the line up unless absolutely necessary.

SOS ,you took the words out of my mouth ,i think the same team selection ,may well see the same score ,after the foxes game and with CMS on the bench the atmosphere should be fantastic . The Charlton lads are a good bunch ,and some think Riga will make changes ,to hold lads back for the Tuesday game against Barnsley ,so could be a lot of goals !. UTA

I dont know whether we have to worry about Oscar leaving ,but it still remains a constant point of debate ,do we have to worry about Burke ? ,is he causing Oscar transfer problems as he did with GP ?. In which case all the penny pinching and redundancies ,sales of top players ,and at least with Barnes ,no approved offer ,not to forget Conway ,who stated he was happy to stay with us and loved our city ,as we know his son was born here ! ,will have been for nothing if we have not got the funds to spend in the summer ,as many believe we will .If Oscar is aware of a luck of forthcoming funds for transfers ,then this could be true .

Bit unfair to you Captain(the thumbs down)
Been posting since Micky Adams days along with you and you are right to have your reservations about the clubs future
My only worry is the boards commitment to this seasons outcome as they appear not to have the same desire as the paying public
Maybe we are not ready for the PL but they sang a different song when asked if BHA have everything in place to join the top flight
If Hull and Palace can hold their own then surely we can with the extra 60mill or so
We all want some progress at Brighton and not to be just a milking cow from accountants hiding behind lame excuses
Rant over

A wise bet cap'n. I, on the other hand, had 42 knicker on Man U vs Bayern, because I couldn't resist 11-1 odds. Quadders ;-)

Top top post Piglet1!!!! I whole heartedly agree and as I have posted elsewhere on here.........please, please, please only positive chants. Respect opposition, players and fans and officials! Remember these referees have subconscious minds as we'll. if they receive abuse they are going to subconsciously give back what they are receiving!

We fans can get Brighton a fantastic name as a decent club with decent facilities and decent fans...........and who benefits? We do. Everyone at the club does because whatever you put out has to come back.....sometime and in some form!!!!

I remember the great Liverpool sides of the late 60's thru the 70's and how the Anfield Kop would always welcome the visiting teams and supporters with fantastic applause and words and I am convinced that had a massive part to play in their phenomenal success during that period. I think Brendan Rodgers attitude is repeating that attitude and the results are there for all to see.

We now have a manager who models self respect by respecting opposition managers, his own players and also us, the fans. What a breath of fresh air that is. I don't think we'll be seeing him abandon his post and disappear to the dressing room when the ref is having a bad day.....

Common Seagulls!

I remember seeing you on here from well back too, Hannover. Do you go to see '96 play over there? Been there and literally got the t-shirt a couple of years ago.
