Trevor Geer savoured a “fairytale finish“ to Eastbourne’s 50-43 win at home to Belle Vue.
But he admitted Aces made it very tough for his side.
Eagles led 27-15, then fell a point behind before recovering to claim both the win and the bonus in the final race.
Joonas Kylmakorpi and Cameron Woodward shared a 5-1 over Scott Nicholls and Matej Zagar in heat 15.
Geer said: “It was too close for comfort but what a fantastic meeting for the supporters – and with a fairytale finish.
“We had such a good lead and it looked to be going well.
"But the track was so good. It was good for everyone.
“They just happened to pop out and make a few gates and we just couldn’t get by.
“It was a big win. If we had lost it would have been disastrous, we have got to win every meeting at home and get some away wins.”
