Mark Robinson has congratulated his Sussex team on a landmark win.
But the county boss was not present to see their first Championship victory at Edgbaston against Warwickshire for 32 years.
Robinson is believed to have been interviewed by the ECB for the vacant post of England coach while Sussex completed a seven-wicket win.
Skipper Ed Joyce, who scored two centuries in a match for the first time, said: “He texted me and said it was a good achievement.
“He was under-stated as always. I just said ‘Good luck’ to him. Hopefully things go well for him – wherever he is!
“He is in a very exciting place as well. Not only have we won but he is being talked about in glowing terms in important circles ”
Sussex are top of the Championship after two matches.
