Wolves ready to listen to offers for Albion loan defender Ward

Loan signing Stephen Ward has enjoyed his time at Albion

Loan signing Stephen Ward has enjoyed his time at Albion

First published in Sport by

Wolves boss Kenny Jackett is ready to listen to offers for the players he loaned out.

And that could nudge left-back Stephen Ward closer to a longer stay with Albion.

Ward, who has a year left on his contract at Molineux, says he has no idea what the future holds.

Jackett has hinted players loaned out this term are unlikely to feature in his plans for Championship football next term.

He added: “You can’t say for definite but it’s fair to assume we’ve moved on.

“They’re contracted players so if there are deals right for the club, we’ll consider it. If not, they’ll be coming back.”

Ward makes no secret of how much he has enjoyed his stint with the Seagulls.

He said: “At the minute I’m a Brighton player and that is all I’m concentrating on.

“I’m sure when the season finishes and the summer comes about I will know a little more about where my future lies.”

He added: “Brighton’s a massive club going in the right direction.

“The stadium is, in my opinion, the best in the Championship and once they get the training ground in place it will be a real coup.”

Good solid and honest pro with integrity. 7 out of ten man every week. Should sign him up ASAP - could get him for reasonable price too. Nice news to wake up to.

If the wages can be agreed then Stephen Ward would be a good signing he has shown throughout this season his ability and commitment to our cause, come on Stephen the money wont be bad and you are an accepted member of our playing squad the support wants you.You know it makes sense.

Everyone felt despondent when Bridge went to Reading but Ward has been superb and Bridge doesn't seem to feature much for Reading. Ward was signed by the 'suits' - though I don't suppose they'll get any thanks on this site!

Bridge has been out injured for most of this season and agree re Ward.I would definitely sign him on a permanent deal.

And by all accounts Bridge was woeful against Leics (although that was partly from having to cover a poor centre back). You just never see Ward have a bad game. Solid pro, honest as the day is long. Sign him up!

UTA etc etc...

Yep, has been a consistently good member of the team. Actually, I think we got the best deal this season, Bridge v Ward, as Ward has only missed a couple of matches.

And there, me thinks, lies the problem ( if there is one). Would he drop that much? Or would he seek the best deal he can via one of those dastardly agent chaps? If the god's see us triumph over next (possible) seven games, then his choice should be easier...

I quite agree.

Regarding Bridge, I was reading their opinions online following the Leicester game and they don't seem very happy with him at all. Lacklustre, off-the-pace and ineffectual seemed to be the general thrust.

I can't see Brighton not wanting to sign up Ward, but wanting and doing has proven to be a bit tough for us this year. I think Ward would choose to stay if personal terms can be agreed and surely we can meet the asking price. I guess it will all come down to who else wants him, can we beat them to his signature whilst staying within our own financial structure.

Don't praise him too much. We don't want him being hijacked by another team with the advantage of parachute payments.
My view is he's been pretty average but we should definitely sign him up as a matter of priority. Player of the season in my. book. Oops! UTA
