JOHN GREGORY insists his Crawley players will not take their foot off the pedal for anyone.

The Reds cannot go up or down this season.

Three successive wins have pulled them clear of relegation trouble but they are also too far adrift of the play-off places to have any interest at the top of the table.

Pride, personal futures and trying to beat last season’s tenth place finish remains the sole goals Crawley are chasing in the remaining four games.

But boss Gregory is adamant they will be going full tilt for victory in every one of those matches – even if it means sending today’s hosts Notts County closer to the trap door.

County are currently third from bottom, three points adrift of fifth-bottom Crewe with three matches to play.

They may view today’s game with Crawley as the most winnable of those left, bearing in mind the Reds’ status of mid-table safety.

After that County face play-off chasing Swindon next Saturday before finishing against an Oldham side who could still be dragged into the relegation shake-up.

Gregory was delighted with Crawley’s win at home to third-placed Leyton Orient on Friday, a result which ended the visitors’ hopes of pipping Brentford to the second automatic promotion spot.

That result was achieved despite the Reds being all but safe going into the game.

Which is why Gregory has no fears about them taking it easy today.

He said: “We were safe going into Friday’s game and my players could have taken the attitude into the game that it didn’t really matter but they showed how much it meant to them.

“Every time they pull on that red shirt, you see their hearts are pumping, their fists are pumping and their legs just keep going. They don’t give up right to the end.

“It will be exactly the same against Notts County, everybody will be at it.

“Anyone else at the relegation end in League One can relax knowing full well that whatever team we pick on Monday we are going there to try to win.”
