Trevor Geer has been fined £200 for his out-of-character outburst at referee Chris Gay.
The normally mild-mannered Eastbourne boss stormed into the officials’ box after Gay ruled Cameron Woodward guilty of a tapes offence in heat 13 of the 48-42 win over Lakeside on Friday.
He had had already protested Woodward’s innocence via the permitted form of communication with the ref – via internal telephone.
Geer said: “I don’t regret going up to see the referee “But I stress it was all done in the heat of the moment.”
Geer was roared on by angry home fans as he went up to the ref’s box, which overlooks the start/finish line, before the race could be re-run.
He was joined by senior Eagles promoter Bob Dugard, who was also fined.
Geer added: “I can’t remember doing anything like before but a series of decisions had gone against us all night and I was so irate.”
