Albion boss Oscar Garcia has labelled Kazenga LuaLua a “special player” as he ponders whether to start with the winger or hold him in reserve at Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

LuaLua came on to score the opener in Friday’s 2-0 victory over Yeovil at the Amex, which has kept the Seagulls in the hunt for the play-offs on the final day.

The enigmatic former Newcastle flyer’s first goal of the season followed his demotion to the bench after a sequence of four starts.

Oscar told The Argus: “He has big potential. He is a special player and you have to treat him as a special player.

“We are trying to manage him as best as we can and I think he is playing really well.

“He hadn’t played four or five games in a row until this season and he’s working hard on his defence. He is improving and hopefully he will keep improving for the rest of his career.

“He is the kind of player that can be the perfect impact player for any team but I don’t want him only as an impact. He can help us during 90 minutes, over several games in a row.”

Oscar is also glad to have Andrea Orlandi back in contention after the Spaniard’s first appearance since March 1 against Yeovil. Orlandi missed two first half chances before being substituted after the break and later complaining of ‘flu-type symptoms.

Oscar said: “It has been a difficult season for him, because he’s had some injuries. Now he is fit enough. He is a player with a good technical level and he can help us.”
