Guy Whittingham has left Crawley Town after less than five months at the club.

Reds first team coach departs the Checkatrade.com Stadium along with physion James Barker and club secretary Chris Hough in the latest round of cost-cutting measures.

Boss John Gregory brought in Whittingham soon after his appointment in December following the former Aston Villa striker's sacking as manager of Portsmouth.

His contract was due to expire at the end of the season and it was mutually agreed that he could leave before the final two games.

Barker was part of former boss Richie Barker's backroom team and stayed at the club when Gregory took over but has now been deemed surplus to requirements along with Hough.

Reds have made major cutbacks in recent months in an attempt to reduce costs, including scrapping their academy and making youth coaches Steve Martin and Mark Beard redundant.

Head groundsman Matt Moss was also made redundant in February while there have been other departures behind the scenes.

Chief executive Michael Dunford said: β€œIt is always sad when employees leave the football club and I would like to thank all three for their efforts on behalf of Crawley Town and to wish them all the best for their future careers.”
