Bognor suffered play-off heartache as they lost 2-1 to Lowestoft to wave goodbye to their dreams of Conference south football for another year.

The Suffolk visitors killed off the Rocks with a 77th-minute winner in the Ryman premier play-off semi-final at Nyewood Lane on a night dominated by defensive mistakes.

The home team’s misery was complete when sub Ben Johnson was sent off soon after Town’s second goal.

It is a big disappointment for the Rocks after a fine season that saw them finish third to earn the home semi-final.

Terry Dodd gave them an early lead in front of a crowd of 1,025.
